Activists for black lives release plans to "Shut Down Graceland"

by: Zach Crenshaw Updated: Aug 15, 2016 - 8:39 AM Loading

It's been the summer of protests, and now another one is planned.

The Coalition of Concerned Citizens, including Black Lives Matter protesters and others groups announced their plan to "Shut Down Graceland."

Protest leaders say the mass demonstration is planned for 6:00 PM Monday. They said they specifically chose Graceland because it is Elvis week and they know it will raise awareness.

Leaders say they also chose Graceland because "it demonstrates one of Memphis's most common forms of financial inequality and because the site has ties to...the death of unarmed teen Darrius Stewart."

We feel like we still haven't been answered," said Frank Gottie, a community leader. "They're givin us the runaround."

If carried out, the Elvis Week demonstration will be the third high-profile protest by Black Lives Matter and other groups in the last month.

Most recently in front of Graceland, where some protesters were detained for blocking traffic.

At the time, activists said they wanted their demands met by the city, which they admitted would take time.

The meme this weekend I noticed was all the uni-party pundits expounding on how Trump (for his own sake) needs to get on message and stop attacking the media...

Donald MUST continue to point out media bias, call them out when they are lying, and drive home the point to the American people that SOMEONE running for office is on their side, and understands the crooked media.

They are all upset that they may not be the anointed king-makers in this election cycle, though they are still trying their damnedest.

Great observations. The MSM is taking a beating; why else would they practically cry "UNCLE!" and demand Trump stop pummeling them? Singling out the New York Times and threatening to pull their press credentials made Trump look like a Boss.

How frustrating must the MSM (and GOPe) be? Despite ALL of their 24/7 gangbanging of Trump he is STILL drawing massive crowds and still in the thick of things.

HIS message:

"The Media LIES, hates your guts, takes you for fools, and is trying to RIG and STEAL the Election!" (Trump's message is working.)

Hillary's a mess and can't win on her own merit; The MSM knows this. So does Trump. He must pound away at and discredit the MSM and their lies non-stop.

I have very liberal very democrat relatives who keep moving farther and farther away from Nashville, lol...wonder why...of course, they can't say the real reason.
Reminds me of when Rosie O'Dombass first appeared on The Skew, she bought the old Helen Hayes estate Nyack, NY. A year later she sold the place and moved to South Nyack near where Bill Murray and Jay Leno had houses at the time. Incredibly she actually admitted that she and her "significant other" felt "uncomfortable" living in such close proximity to the villages section 8 housing.

Never mind that Elvis is reported to be of Melungeon decent which means he has African blood in there somewhere back up his ancestry line.

It’s called The Guesthouse at Graceland. It is set to open in October and replace The Heartbreak Hotel. I’m going to miss the Heartbreak, I wish they would keep it open, but they didn’t ask me. I’m a little shook up but the complex & museums replacing it are supposed to be an improvement. Anyway they have pictures of what the new hotel looks like and are even taking reservations now online.

Ah cool. Thanks for the info. I always wanted to visit the King’s crib. I hope security is armed there in case the ‘animals’ go on another rampage.

“I planned to visit next year. How bad is it? Do I need to carry a baseball bat with me?’

Well, it’s been a number of years since I worked for a SF-based company that had a mfg plant in Memphis, but Graceland is on the old north-south highway (US 51) that used to be the major way to go in those directions before the Interstate was built. Our local plant manager’s favorite lunch spot, Beef and Liberty, was right across the street from Graceland, and when Elvis died they bulldozed it and a bunch ofher businesses to bulit the “park” where they now have Elvis’ airplane and other stuff on display. I was actually in Memphis on the day Elvis died. But no, unless it’s really deteriorated, it’s not that it isn’t a safe place to go.

“Whitehaven used to be a great place in the 1950s.”

And it’s “sister city” across the border, Southaven, MS.

They have shuttle buses that will take you to Sun Studio from the hotel and if you like guitars the Gibson factory isn’t too far from the studio. The tours are limited so you need to call ahead to reserve a spot if you tour Gibson. It’s about a block from Beale St., so there’s lots of tourists walking around. The zoo is pretty nice too. I never felt threatened while I was in Memphis. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I went because the way a friend of mine talked, I figured I needed to be packing heat, but I stuck to the tourist areas and everything was fine. I recommend the V.I.P. pass at Graceland.

refresher on the poor innocent warrants-outstanding goin’ to college Darrius (I’m not sure if you can get Pell grants with warrants/convictions):
http://www.wmcactionnews5.com/story/29578116/man-dead-after-struggle-with-mpd-officer

The Commercial Appeal newspaper added that the deceased grabbed for the officer’s belt stuff, got the handcuffs and started beating the officer in the face with them while he was trying to get the gun.

oh, and surprise, surprise, the family filed a $17 million lawsuit July 16, 2016. (17 because Darrius was born on the 17th). Suit filed in part by Black Lawyers for Justice and Black Panther party former chairman

The vehicle was pulled over on Winchester. Not sure how close that is to Graceland or how there’s any tie.

City Fathers fault for not cleaning out the rot. And Graceland should have been turned into a theme park like Dollywood, would have generated a lot more tax dollars.

Only good time to go is Christmas when they go all out to decorate otherwise it’s another blah tour. Skip the supposed Rendezvous Ribs unless you want Styrofoam plates and plastic utensils, tough, cold ribs, runny coleslaw and terrible BBQ sauced beans.

Not to mention a killing or stabbing day or night, 330 robberies daily. Car jacking, etc. Usual big city black culture Dem controlled cesspool.
