Security consultants have been demonstrating that it’s simple and affordable to hack voting machines recently. Cyber security firms like Symantec and Crowdstrike have confirmed that hacking a voting machine is a fairly simple process, costing about $15 online and requiring only moderate knowledge.
“I can insert it, and then it resets the card, and now I’m able to vote again,” Symantec researcher Brian Varner told CBS News. The hacker doesn’t even need to leave the voting booth – and monitoring the actions of someone casting a vote is illegal, to preserve the voter’s right to cast a secret ballot.
Crowdstrike CEO George Kurtz told CNN Money a similar story. His firm was hired to investigate by the Democratic National Committee after the email leak that shook the party.
“There’s not even a doubt in my mind that there are other actors out there that have yet to be found. I’m sure there will be other hacks that come out over the course of this election and certainly beyond that.”
Kurtz called the DNC leak a watershed moment, suggesting that it was only the tip of the iceberg. He says that his firm has been fielding calls from Washington non-stop as politicians try to come to grips with the unprecedented threat of hackers trying to manipulate or subvert the American political process.

This shows that the voting machine and the counting machine need to be different.
If the voting is not done on paper ballots, then the voting machine should print out a paper ballot, which the voter places in the ballot box.
Voting without a paper trail is an invitation for fraud.

I’m curious. The voting machines that are used in our area all have a means to review your completed electronic ballet before entering your vote and then print that ballot onto a “roll” of paper. How, once cast and printed onto that roll, can the vote be changed?
This is more efficient for Democrats than using dead voters.

That will not work. There is a video out there that shows how you can vote for candidate A, it will register in machine as a vote for B. and still do a print out that you voted for A.
The RNC should sue to restore paper ballots in every state.

Even third world dung holes have paper ballots that are stored for decades for the reason of maintaining an audit trail. People who react to daylight like the mildew they are, have a reason to do so, and that reason is that they are scum.
It makes no sense to ‘hack’ machines at a precinct level. Barely worthwhile at the County level. Optimal hacking theory suggests trickery at the aggregation level for each state.
I agree. Zero electronic votes. We should be using traditional paper ballots that can be recounted.
