We know, we know. It's August and it's hot and humid and it seems like it will never be cold again. But:
~SNIP~
And you better start preparing because according to the Long Range Weather Forecast released by The Old Farmer's Almanac, this one is going to be a real doozy.
Every region of the U.S. will be hit with a different type of terrible. The Northeast and Midwest can expect "colder than normal" temperatures and precipitation is supposed to be "above normal." If you're in the Pacific Northwest, you can expect a lot of rain and chilly weather. And in the Intermountain and Appalachian regions, where ski enthusiasts would actually like cold temperatures and lots of snow, it's set to largely be warmer and less snowy than usual. Great.

But given that it claims to have an 80 percent accuracy rate and that its predictions about last year's brutal winter were pretty much spot-on, we're not going to take our chances.
We can be assured that whatever the regional weather is, the "Experts" will attribute it to Man-Made Global WarmingTM
Now, is this beginning Dec. 2017? Short winter!
It’s a blessing we can rely on the Farmer’s Almanac predictions, because our politically Left incompetents at the National Weather & Democrat Propaganda Service are too busy peddling global warming to do the job they are being paid for.
Usually, it seems the Farmer’s Almanac will state the obvious.
In the last 80 years we’ve only had 3 normal ones.
So what is normal? If we assume “woman normal” there is no normal.
This comment may get me into trouble.
Winter 2017 is from Dec. 21, 2016 to March 20, 2017.

Well I better start cutting down those trees for firewood.
I am predicting a nuclear winter if Hillary is elected.
Warm in Appalachia Eh?
Who are these people and how do you get that job?
It’s gonna be normal everywhere, except where you live.
What brutal winter? Texas had about 8 minutes of winter last year. We need a winter to kill out the fleas and those Zika mosquitoes.
Well, here in Northern Ohio, the last two Winters were so cold that I lost 80% of my bushes/shrubs. My whole front hedge was killed.
Last year in Northern NJ, there was 1 plowable snow. I live at 1500 feet and we usually are colder and get more snow than the rest of the state. They plowed a few times, just because they get paid for it, but it was unnecessary. It was cooler for longer, but it was only really cold for a few days.
Contrast that with the prior winter, where we had over a dozen plowable storms, and weeks where the nightly lows were in the single or negative digits and the highs never went over 20.
Winter 15/16 was mild for this region. Funny thing is, I grew up in northern Ohio and the weather there and here where I live, generally tracks about the same. I think what happened was that the entire winter here, storms were lifting north after coming out of Ohio and hitting northern NY instead of coming straight across PA to NJ.
Well I have two years worth of cut and split fire wood and full propane tank.
Recently I had blood work done and everything was fine except my Vitamin D was low. But my doctor said "but that's okay, everyone's is low." If everyone's is low, than why is "normal" set at an abnormally high level? Hmmm?
Ping
Yes. There was a dip in the jetstream that hit us. Not much snow, but very cold!
(FLASHBACK)
GLOBAL WARMING? Farmers Almanac Predicts Another Bitterly Cold Winter
August 18, 2015
Excerpt:
Farmers Almanac managing editor Sandi Duncan says no one will be immune to the rough weather this winter.
Even the areas that we say are going to be like the bread of the ice-cold sandwich are going to have bouts of stormy conditions. Theres no way its going to be that mild of a winter, she says.
La Nina is upon us. Sun spots are the lowest in a century. Cold follows such a double hit.
