MSNBC host Joe Scarborough said Monday that an independent conservative candidate on Monday will announce a challenge to Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
"It does appear that there is going to be a well-funded independent candidate," Scarborough said on "Morning Joe," without providing a name.
Scarborough, a former GOP congressman from Florida, said the candidate would aim to get on 20 to 30 state ballots.

Not only that. If this is true, the nation is over. Let the dems have the whole damn mess. It'll be like the EU, where at this point the only survival is what will emerge whole enough to persevere after the collapse.
We now have a statement from this McMullin from ABC News. It sounds true:

This supposed independent candidate, regardless of who it is, is really a nothing.
Trump is a movement, rolling along as unstoppable as a bull dozer. He will get elected, the public is just sick of all this PC leftwing BS ever since the first Clinton era. The public is fully aware that a RINO in an independents clothing is still a RINO. This ploy will just make the Trumpsters even more determined to get the country back.
Further, this independent could draw just as many Hillary voters away as Trump voters, especially when you consider how burned the Bernie supporters feel.
At best, because of the various rules to get listed in each state, unless he has tons of money....I don’t see getting on more than five to ten states max. Without advertising, the most that this can take across the US in votes is maybe 200,000 votes. Amusing, at best.
Can’t let the voters have their way. Elites must get the message out for next time “support who we say or else - voters will never win so don’t even try”.
Heavens no. Early on, covering Trump was only as a novelty, the excitement, for ratings, which apparently MSNBC has a hard time getting.
They NEVER anticipated him actually becoming the nominee.
BS. Ballot access is governed by laws, deadlines have passed.
McMullin is an absolute nobody and will draw as many votes as Gary Johnson or Jill Stein.
I just cannot see why anyone is getting bothered over this jerk.
The Cheap Labor Express will do whatever it takes to prevent the citizens from stopping the illegal alien inundation.
LOL, he is Goldman-Sachs.
I completely agree.
There is a (very large) section of “Democrats” who are supporting Trump. Trump is very popular with a whole huge section of America which NEITHER PARTY has been supporting for one entire generation.
He is leading a real movement.
There are people who still want to keep things just as they are. Those people have sold our infrastructure to China, for a kick-back. They are not for America. They are for themselves.
Screw ‘em. They need to be replaced.
America needs to be strong again.
Trump is the first politician, in over one entire generation, who is for AMERICA.
BWAHAHAHA
Cruz vs Pence in 4 years for the nomination?
Pence in a walk
” independent” and “ well funded” are mutually exclusive concepts

I give it another month and they will pull this same crap out of the bag again. How many times have we heard this now?
