A veteran police officer with one of the nation's most prominent transit systems has been arrested for allegedly trying to help ISIS, ABC News has learned exclusively.
Authorities believe that while working for the Metro Transit Police Department around Washington, D.C. a community he swore to protect the officer was also trying to assist ISIS operatives find more ways to communicate in secret, sources told ABC News.
The officer allegedly purchased technology-related items to send to the ISIS operatives so they could evade authorities when contacting each other, according to the sources.
Instead of allegedly engaging with true ISIS associates, however, the officer was actually in touch with the FBIs Joint Terrorism Task Force in Washington, which has been conducting a lengthy undercover investigation into the officer.

“In the past three years, more than 100 Americans have been charged with trying to join ISIS or are suspected of supporting the group in some other way.”
I’m thinking that is a lot lower than reality.
FBI entrapment? Who knows what the real story is here.
And most all Metro employees are obummers sons and during the election were wearing obummer buttons and allowing obummer get-out-the-vote tables on and inside Metro property—a violation of the law.
Kind of like the movie Arlington Road.
But it was not out of respect for the justice system she is tasked with upholding: Court records note that the Southeast resident also failed to appear for a court date on assault charges filed against her.
Nicholas Young-, What is his religion?
He is probably white.
“Im thinking that is a lot lower than reality.”
Me, too. ISIS operatives have infiltrated our country at all levels.
This guy must be Amish since his race and religion are not listed. It shouldn’t matter, I know. But I am curious if he is a Muslim and his motivation was Jihad and hatred or if he may have been motivated by a big payoff being offered.
The motive matters these days, legally and politically. I suppose we also need to understand his “intent” to see if he did anything illegal since the actual verbiage in any given law is not relevant.
They have been monitoring him since 2010. He converted to Islam
I’m guessing his name was NOT Bill Gustafsson.
I'm surprised the complaint or precursor to it was made public.
According to the affidavit filed in support of the criminal complaint, Young told FBI agents that he traveled to Libya twice in 2011 and he had been with rebels attempting to overthrow the Muammar Qaddafi regime. Baggage searches revealed that Young traveled with body armor, a kevlar helmet, and several other military-style items.
Those are only the ones they caught and had enough evidence to charge. There must be thousands that weren’t caught...
Well, even if it is entrapment, the guy had to have a desire to help ISIS or he couldn’t be entrapped...
I mean if someone came up to you or I and started buttering us up to convince us to help ISIS we would probably report them to the FBI, not chit chat with them until they had convinced us.
I am glad that the FBIs Joint Terrorism Task Force in Washington caught this muzzard, but I wish they had been as diligent with the Hildebeast.
Smells like religious profiling. DOJ team environment route.
