The NRA has not become the most reliable indicator of a true pro-2A candidate. They endorsed Harry Reid over his GOP opponent just a few years ago.

Yes, I know. And it is apparently something they will never be able to live down.

Is this one of those deals where, in a race between an incumbent and a challenger who has not run for public office before, the NRA automatically endorses the incumbent?Nope. The current Sheriff is retiring. Chitwood is the Chief of the Daytona PD. Two of his opponents are lifelong residents and current deputies. Chitwood is a transplant from Philly.

Is this the Chitwood who was the chief of police in Portland Maine 20 years ago? I believe this is his son. Same name, same anti-gun attitudes.

The NRA does a lot more good than harm. It has stepped on it's own pee-pee in the past, without a doubt, but I cannot find any human endeavor which has not.
So as always we take the bad with the good. JMHO, but if it wasn't for the NRA, the 2A would have been scrapped back in the 70s.
