Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan, Defend Khizr Khan's Son's Military Service and Sacrifice
ABC News ^ | July 31, 2016 | Alana Abramson

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Paul Ryan have both come out with statements strongly defending Capt. Humayun Khan, a Muslim-American soldier killed in combat in 2004 whose father Khizr Khan made an emotional plea against Donald Trump's candidacy at the Democratic National Convention.

The statements come after Trump's controversial response to the Khan family, and after a personal appeal from Khizr Khan to to both the Senate Majority Leader and the House Speaker to denounce the GOP nominee.

Neither McConnell nor Ryan mention Trump by name in their statements, but the repudiation of the GOP nominee is implicit in both responses.

"All Americans should value the patriotic service of the patriots who volunteer to selflessly defend us in the armed services. And as I have long made clear, I agree with the Khans and families across the country that a travel ban on all members of a religion is simply contrary to American values," McConnell wrote.

Ryan followed with a similar response. “America's greatness is built on the principles of liberty and preserved by the men and women who wear the uniform to defend it. As I have said on numerous occasions, a religious test for entering our country is not reflective of these fundamental values. I reject it.

"Many Muslim Americans have served valiantly in our military, and made the ultimate sacrifice," Ryan continued. "Captain Khan was one such brave example. His sacrifice -- and that of Khizr and Ghazala Khan -- should always be honored. Period.”

In an interview on MSNBC the day after Khizr Khan addressed the convention, he begged McConnell and House Speaker Paul Ryan -- both of whom he referred to as "leaders and patriots" -- to speak out against the GOP nominee, calling it a "moral imperative."

The RINO opportunists still don't understand their problem: Juvenile inferences and "explanations."

No one is denying the son his due for service to our country.

We are disgusted by the "don't let a tragedy go to waste" approach by what is clearly a foreign militant sandmaggot agent.

It's not possible to criticize this sick culture of killers too much.

Or their Hillary "flying monkeys" enablers.

Well all right then; according to you Trump is borderline psychotic. You can’t possibly want a person with such serious mental health issues—to understate your diagnosis—in the WH.

When does your neverTrump campaign kick off?

‘Psychosis can involve :

– seeing things which are not there (visual hallucinations)

– hearing things which are not there eg the sufferer might believe they can hear voices telling them to harm, or even kill, themselves

– having the feeling of touching things which are not there (somatic hallucinations)

– smelling things which are not there (olfactory hallucinations)

– derealization (a change of perception in which the world seems ‘unreal’)

– depersonaliztion (a change of perception in which one’s own self seems unreal).

Note : Both derealization and depersonalization are what are known as ‘dissociative’ symptoms – click here to read my article about dissociation.

– holding on to extremely odd and unusual beliefs that others cannot dissuade the sufferer from believing, especially paranoid beliefs, such as their family, or strangers, are trying to kill them; believing they are irredeemably evil; believing they don’t exist; believing the government is going to kill them and they are being pursued by MI5 (UK) or the CIA (US); believing aliens have placed an implant in their brains which broadcasts all their thoughts. Sometimes, too, the bizarre belief may be a delusion of grandeur, such as ‘they are god’.’

My goodness, not only can you debate online, you can google, too, Let’s give it a rest. Admit it....Trump screwed the pooch with this. Maybe we will find out Kahn is a member of ISIS, but that does not excuse Trump from being much smarter in the way he deals with criticism. I am tired of politicians and personalities with skins way to thin.

If I had labeled the GOP candidate borderline psychotic, I’d want to give it a rest also. Way to make the case for Hillary. People say she’s ill, but I have yet to hear a conservative—much less a Dem—argue that she’s borderline psychotic.

This whole tempest is a synthetic event to try to tar Trump. The media, as usual purposely misunderstand the obvious nuances and spin like mad. To divert attention from trying to put H->! in jail.

Well at least, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Me too. I always imagine they’ve got Amanda Carpenter advising them, and then it all makes sense why they piss their pants every time someone rattles the window pane.

The father fled Pakistan to escape the military, which I believe was persecuting everyone who wasn’t Muslim.

Khan clearly despises any form of military, and clearly was not happy his son signed up for ROTC and enlisted.

He was known to the Clinton campaign. H Rotten C mentioned his son in a speech in Dec2015.

He had an agenda that suited the dirty Dems. He’s not innocent.

Why’d he flee Pakistan for the USA?

He didn’t flee Pakistan for the USA...

They went to Dubai...ya know THE MIDDDLE EAST ??? THE ARAB STATES ???

the soldier son was born THERE...

Then when the son was about 2 they somehow came to America...

If you was fleeing moslems would you go where there were more moslems than you can shake a stick at ???

Anyhoo why would a moslem be fleeing other moslems ???

The son was in the ROTC in 2000...Bill Clinton’s reign...

I think we are on the same page. Lots of questions, no answers, shady ppl involved.

I’m very suspicious of Mr. Khan. It will come out eventually.

Meantime, Trump needs to move on.
