At an interfaith gathering hosted by the Democratic National Convention Committee in Philadelphia, Rev. James A. Forbes, senior minister emeritus of the Riverside Church in New York City and president of the Healing of the Nations Foundation, said Sunday that the nation faces problems of bigotry, climate change, greed and the demonic matter of xenophobia.
During the gathering titled, Stronger Together: In Pursuit of Love and Kindness, Forbes referenced the lyrics of the 1960s musical, The Music Man, Ya got trouble, folks, right here in River City. Trouble with a capital T and that rhymes with P and that stands for pool. In fact, weve got so much trouble that we dont have to pick out P for pool that rhymes with T, Forbes said. I have looked and found that every one of the alphabet that rhymes with T can give us a basis of identifying some trouble that we got right now. Theres others you know theres eight of them B, C, D, E, G, P, V, and Z, they all rhyme with T.
B-bigotry, C-climate change, D-declining life expectancy, even in the poor white community, E-economic disparity and inequality, G-Greed, P-Paralysis of the political process and police-community tensions, V- violence everywhere, every day it looks like sometimes every hour and Z-xenophobia, he said. I know that xenophobia is really spelled with X, but it dont matter how you spell it. Its a demonic matter, no matter how youre going to spell it, so itll fit anyway phonetically Im right anyhow.

Why is xenophobia demonic but greed, bigotry and climate change aren’t?
James Forbes is an IDIOT!! WHO would go to his “church”?
He’s a liberal,political philosopher masquerading as a minister
Wouldn’t it be funny if pastor holier-than-thou got blown up by one of those guys we’re all so xenophobic about?
World Council of Churches hack?
I guess he doesn't know what unreasonable means. -Tom
So wanting to keep your country strong and safe is demonic? This guy is clearly an apostate preaching “another gospel”.
1) Radical jihadism *and* "Sudden jihad syndrome" are both diabolical.
2) Xenophobia is an attempt to prevent these evil forces from gaining entry to our country...to include expulsion of those already present.
3) How can Satan cast out Satan?
QED.
This is a very dark
And more
This guy is synonymous with the worst of liberalism
Right. Stopping a Nazi blitzkrieg is simply xenophobia. The constitutional duty of the federal government to protect against forging invasion (Art IV, Sec 4, U.S. Constitution) is symptomatic of our Founder’s xenophobia.
This guy is an idiot and this statement is so stupid, it doesn’t deserve the space on FR - pure dribble.
Is this guy demon obsessed?
REPENT FREEPERS!!!! :)
I remember Rev. William Sloane Coffin and lost all respect for Riverside Church way back then.
KMA Rev.
The good Reverend is not exactly a towering intellect.
A fear of strangers is healthy. He should preach Christianity in Iran for 40 days and 40 nights and perhaps his opinion of those pesky Muslim “strangers” would change.

Really pathetic attempt at a ‘sermon” or especially a “homily’ ~ it sounds like a graduate from, and professor of theology; at the highly esteemed “Dr. Seuss’ Seminary”....
