Mrs. Trump, Monday night:
From a young age, my parents impressed on me the values that you work hard for what you want in life, that your word is your bond and you do what you say and keep your promise, that you treat people with respect. They taught and showed me values and morals in their daily lives. That is a lesson that I continue to pass along to our son. And we need to pass those lessons on to the many generations to follow. Because we want our children in this nation to know that the only limit to your achievements is the strength of your dreams and your willingness to work for them.
Mrs. Obama, in her 2008 speech:
Barack and I were raised with so many of the same values: that you work hard for what you want in life; that your word is your bond and you do what you say youre going to do; that you treat people with dignity and respect, even if you dont know them, and even if you dont agree with them. And Barack and I set out to build lives guided by these values, and pass them on to the next generation. Because we want our children and all children in this nation to know that the only limit to the height of your achievements is the reach of your dreams and your willingness to work for them.

I sure hope Donald doesn’t use the same speech writer!
Whoever included that paragraph has to have been fired by now.
My wife’s reaction is that it was intentional sabotage.
Enamored
Spell check. Tried to change it again! Ugh!
Was that really the same speech??
For the media to pick up on this so fast means the fix was in..traitors in the Trump camp
wow, they are very alike...I bet some staff who worked on the speech are getting raked over the coals about now!
Every one of us has said that to our children, but with more variation and order of presentation...sometimes at the top of our lungs! LOL
Comparison:
Heres the key moment in Trumps speech:
My parents impressed on me the values: that you work hard for what you want in life. That your word is your bond and you do what you say and keep your promise. That you treat people with respect. They taught me to show the values and morals in my daily life. That is the lesson that I continue to pass along to our son.
And we need to pass those lessons on to the many generations to follow. [Cheering] Because we want our children in this nation to know that the only limit to your achievements is the strength of your dreams and your willingness to work for them.
And this is from Michelle Obamas speech in 2008:
And Barack and I were raised with so many of the same values: that you work hard for what you want in life; that your word is your bond and you do what you say you're going to do; that you treat people with dignity and respect, even if you don't know them, and even if you don't agree with them.
And Barack and I set out to build lives guided by these values, and pass them on to the next generation. Because we want our children and all children in this nation to know that the only limit to the height of your achievements is the reach of your dreams and your willingness to work for them.
One possibility is her thoughts just happened to be similar. These are typical platitudes you would hear in a speech. However, it is very similar. Second possibility is I wonder if she looked to past first lady speeches for inspiration. Some words have been changed, and it's not exactly alike. If she used it for inspiration, is it enough to call it plagiarism? The third possibility is (she did have some help, although she said not much), a speechwriter who helped her screwed up and/or deliberately sabotaged her.
Joe Biden was unavailable for comment.
My wifes reaction is that it was intentional sabotage.
Your wife is a smart women. It sure the hell was intentional. Bitter Cruz supporter is my guess.
Sad, because this will be the highlight of Melania’s
speech. Not that she is proud to be an American or
values what America stands for. Sad!
I looked at Michelle’s....They are not the same. The media is playing a game.
You all need to grow up. Saying you were raised right is not plagiarism because someone else said it.
Plagiarism? Did Michelle say she grew up in Slovenia? This is childishly ridiculous.
Maybe English is her fifth language, and she wrote the speech in another language and the translator made it into the same words. Heh
Not exactly similar but some words are..
Melania said she wrote it, right? Let’s say she had help..it would be beyond ridiculous & obvious for someone to take words from Mooch speech.
What if it was done on purpose??! Ok, now I’m reaching..ha
Maybe it is just a coincidence.. Anything is possible.
I am thinking it is so familiar I wonder if there is a famous speech that might be the original one given...
See post 26 for comparison.
LOL, who cares? A few sentences are similar but 98% of the speech is entirely different.
And it’s not like Michelle Obama wrote her speech. I don’t see the problem with repeating a few lines that she happens to agree with. This is just a speech.
Melania probably had no idea. Speechwriters did this.
And Michelle Obama’s speech sounded offly similar to Laura Bush’s 2000 speech, EVERYONE copies from each other they are SPEECH WRITERS
