Looking for good ideas on how to express support and appreciation to our police. As a chaplain for 10 years I have seen them work up close to defuse family problems, befriend youth, contribute to the community as coaches, take dangerous drivers off the streets, deal with gangs and take on the bad guys. I have seen how the last thing an officer wants to do is discharge his weapon or even unholster it. But he or she does want to go home to his family. So any suggestions out there...
Brought a box of cannoli to the precinct the other night :)
Some departments don’t take gifts of food for fear that someone may poison them. My department graciously accepted them but then discarded them. Unless they know you personally it’s best to give a gift certificate.
Buy them a box of bullets!
That could be seen as a big threat.
I know a few detectives there. I’d be easy to find :)
Brought them food for minding the guy that robbed my house and last year after the brooklyn execution of those cops.
As long as the tie is still on from Buono’s.
Order pizza for them, have it delivered.
If they know the delivery guy I’ll bet they’d eat it.
Here’s a great idea, the police unions and membership ALWAYS donate money and vote for DEMOCRATS.
How about we let them get their support from the liberals, which is who they support and vote for.
We can support the families of slain officers.
ALL the cops I ever knew in Northern VA were big gun control guys, you know, “Only men like myself can possibly handle the awesome responsibilities of handling a gun.”
I hear the cops are not like that elsewhere. Until I see it with my own eyes, I’m with you.
Use the money you would have spent going to an NBA or NFL game...
I was very surprised the first time I asked a cop about the 2nd amendment and he said he thought people shouldn't have guns.
You live in the wrong state. Here in God's country, our local sheriff provides free firearms training to us "civilians".
My local sheriff is not a big city liberal, maybe because he is actually elected and holds an office that is based on the Constitution, and not big government politicians. “Police Departments” need to be under control of the voters, not the other way around, like it is today.
I made some complaints to my Sheriff, and he actually listened. The changes he instituted were along the lines of my concerns, quite refreshing these days.
To answer your question, pick up the tab at the Waffle Shop for a cop if you see him eating there (or any restaurant) .
Vote for Trump
“You live in the wrong state.”
Yes, I do. Might retire to the Texas hill country, but it will probably be 80% Mexican by the time I’m ready.
Same here....our Sheriff is encouraging the citizens to get concealed carry....
....
He is one of those plain spoken, never a doubt where he stands!....we are blessed
Yep. I hear lots of good things about rural cops, and, truth be told, since moving out of the cesspool of Alexandria, VA and going to Loudoun County, I’ve had NOTHING but good experiences with cops, so perhaps I was a tad harsh in my first post.
When out to eat, if I see cops in uniform, I pick up the tab.
