Deadly officer-involved shootings of two black men, one in Louisiana and another in Minnesota, have the attention of the country and that of the Black Lives Matter movement.
Sunday night, a group here in Memphis marched across the city and onto the I-40 bridge.
It started as a peaceful rally at FedExForum with hundreds of people.
After rallying at FedExForum, the crowd marched to police headquarters at 201 Poplar and then continued on, with more people joining them as they went on.
The marchers attempted to go to the I-40 bridge, but police blocked the entrance to the bridge. They eventually found a way onto the bridge via the exit ramp, and police had trouble stopping them.
Traffic was forced to a standstill, and the bridge was closed as police ordered the protesters to exit.
There was still a crowd of marchers who did not make it onto the bridge, as well as a big group still back at FedExForum.
There was a big police presence surrounding the rally and march, including a police helicopter and officers in tactical gear. Interim Police Director Michael Rallings was also at the rally, and things heated up when protestors interrupted him.
They want trouble, they will get trouble. The question is only how much trouble will spill over unto us.
I doubt that this happens except under direct attack.
7.62 149gr m80 ball. Primary anti personnel round for the m60.
If only the #BlackLiesDon'tMatter crowd realized how easily they were being played...
I live just south of that hellhole and the SOB have taken over all TV channels
A million bucks says they don’t cross into Arkansas. :)
I stopped going to Memphis 10 years ago. One of my friends likes to go to cultural events, but no one will go to Memphis w/ her.
It ain’t just Barack. It is a hellful of demons.
Their social justice warriors probably glean the whole internet for comments like this.
What’s going on in Philly. Need to notify my relatives.
It certainly is. Some animated .gifs encapsulate a movie scene so well, they can stand on their own.
Surprise, surprise, its the Obama Arab Spring in America! Wow!
Drive the creeps off the roads!
Hussein AND H3llary would have tipped off the BLM ‘march leader’ in Dallas AND the shooter in Dallas at the same time, hoping for some action, just to get what’s happened to happen.
H3ll is off the front page, as is the nearly total corruption of DC and the fbi.
And never discount the opportunity for looting.
They should block Interstate overpasses......AT NIGHT.
Driving across that bridge tomorrow as I head home to TX. If were to have a flat in Memphis, I’d drive on the rims until I was well into AR.
Does anyone think it’s rather odd that nearly all the BLM protests have involved trying to shut down interstates?
It almost makes you think they’re being coordinated.
Hmmm.
“What if an ambulance or fire truck needed through but help going to a black person was unable to get to them? “
I am pretty sure they would decide to move once the air horns and sirens get tuned up good.
My ears still ring from the day the Ass. Chief decided to stand on the air horn as I walked about 8’ in front of the truck.
It is an interstate highway. It should never be blocked. But you don't care? What about the person waiting for an ambulance?
Apparently the cops don't care either. They allow this to happen. And you don't care.
