"I shot him as much as I could" survivor has book out: "Armed Survivor" Free on Kindle

On May 11, 2011 I received the following email from a friend and fellow Freeper:

Here's what our daughter and son in law woke up to this morning - not to mention what the neighbor woke up to..

You shooters in the crowd will be glad to know that this neighbor of R and P - gal living alone - shot and killed the guy with 10 of 11 shots fired from a .22 and was reaching for her .38 when she ran out of bullets in the .22 and the guy left the same way he got in - through a screened in backporch....He couldn't get far with 10 bullets in him as the neighbors were told the cops found him on the porch. The cops said they found only 1 stray bullet in the house.

She was scared to pieces but still managed to use her head, shoot him and run out of the house. Our son in law was in the garage having his morning coffee and she must have run right by him without even seeing him - just ran through the garage naked, through the kitchen door and collapsed on the kitchen floor. R heard the screaming and came out to find her there. She got a towel to put around her and then got a robe to put on her.

A traumatic time for all in the neighborhood.

In case anyone remembers this news story, the woman who survived this traumatic encounter with an armed home invader, has survived, thrived, healed, and now has a book out.

"Armed Survivor," by Christine Hand-Gonzales Ed.D. It is available in paperback and is apparently free on Kindle today. Here's the Kindle link:

https://www.amazon.com/Armed-Survivor-Christine-Hand-Gonzales-Ed-D-ebook/dp/B01GT3PMBS?ie=UTF8&ref_=pe_385040_199552470_TE_M1T1DP

I don't know how long the free version will be available.

For more information, here are some of the news articles and even the 911 call:

Ed.D?

She has a gun, she’ll never work in Academe again.

Lots of little holes works real good ... one to the upper chest (will slow any sized attacker) and one to the brain pan works better. One to the bladder area in a downward trajectory then one to the brain pan works too ...

A shotgun can cover all that at once!

Still compare the 91% hit rate compares VERY favorably to 42% for cops. (Las Vegas 2011).

Yup. Police type. Short barrel for a wider shot pattern.

I wonder..Was it a 22LR or a 22mag?

I carry the 22mag. The reason I did not go to a 45 auto is the recoil. I would sooner place some real good shots than click off a full mag and maybe just one hit.

Problem is though. any 22 rim fire hasnt got the shocking power, plenty of speed, but the bullet isnt large enough. The mag is a bit better though.

“She was scared to pieces, but she still managed to use her head...”

She must have read “The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy” since it has the words DONT’T PANIC on the front cover.

I think 10 .22 rimfire sized holes probably has enough shocking power, especially if hollow-points. I’ve put down a number of straying hogs with them and it rarely takes more than three shots.

Ya I agree. But when you really need to knock someone down..but I understand the penetration is the same with a 22mag than a 9mm. Just less mass.

But I still like the rimfires BECAUSE of lack of recoil.

BTW, I use the heritage arms single action 22 mag with the 7 inch barrel. And that dang thing shoots sweet. Some say they have had problems with them, I have not and am real happy with it. This old geezer is pretty good with it. I have shot many a porcupine high in the trees with one shot kill...in the head.

Shift to .380, the .22 big brother.

I recommend it for women especially, but carry one myself.

Small and light, it's rarely left at home.

Not a combat weapon.

But I can hit a man in the forehead from 10 paces.

She needs a Siamese....still no barking, but VERY territorial, and will launch themselves from concealment onto an intruders head with no overt provocation.

Having one's dermis penetrated multiple times by twenty meathooks accompanied by squalling that sounds like several bagpipes can be disconcerting to an invader of THEIR territory.

I have thought of that. But I think I will saty with the single action I have. Kinda went traditional in my older years and dont care for the 45 but..

I even got rid of all my bench rest long range shooting stuff-7mm rem mag, 300 win mag etc, and bought a 45 70 government just to have fun with.

I f I ever get into it for some reason here at my house, heaven help the SOB that tries something. I got some real nasty goodies to let them experience.

Spetsnaz aims just a little lower. Practically no bone between the tip of the nose and ‘the apricot’.
