Ted Cruz slides in poll, leaving Greg Abbott king of the Texas GOP
Austin American-Statesman ^ | June 27, 2016 | Jonathan Tilove

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz’s poll numbers have slid in the aftermath of his unsuccessful bid for the Republican nomination for president, according to the new University of Texas/Texas Politics Project poll released Monday, leaving Gov. Greg Abbott far and away the most popular Republican in the state.

Abbott has an 11 percentage-point approval margin among the general electorate — calculated by taking those who like what he’s doing minus those who don’t — and a 65 percentage-point net approval rating among Republicans. Cruz has a 39-point net approval margin among Republicans, but, among the broader electorate, he has an approval margin of -18 points.

That’s the biggest deficit for the big-name Republicans the Texas Politics Project named in the survey...

How old are you ? Come on, just list to which generation you were born into; that's enough.

You are incapable of actual "thought"; you "believe" things that you make up and tell yourself...especially about others who you do not know and whose posting you've obviously never bothered to read. Pity that, for you! LOL

I'm "calling YOU out"; kid! How many local, state, and national political campaigns have you worked on?

How many years have you been deeply interest in politics?

I'll "belittle" Teddy as damned much as I care to; he deserves that and far more; which you would realize, if you weren't still one of his cultists! And you love Rubio too; stupidly !

I have been working against the Clintons for far longer than you have been on FR and against Commies since long before you were a gleam in your father's eye! Instead of attempting to fight and/or best me, it would behoove you to pay attention to my post...you'll learn a great deal that way. ;^)

If you're a Texan, you'd know how to spell Lyin' Ted CRUZ's name.

Sorry my bad, I was in a hurry to finish the reply and misspelled his name. I'm sure it's never happened to you, right? Give me credit at least for spelling Texas correctly.

How does a “new generation conservative” differ from an “old generation conservative?”

Technology, lifestyle, and education, to name a few, have changed significantly since Reagan was POTUS. The older generation is longing for a 20th century America that will never exist again. And calling the current generation stupid and leaderless is defeating the purpose of turning America around. The older conservatives should be mentoring them and encouraging them to accept and return to the values America was founded upon. Where are the new conservative leaders of tomorrow going to come from if the old ones never retire?

He’s not up for election.

He will be primaried in 2017 and I am voting for his primary opponent. I've had it with that phony lying globalist.

He’s a rat bastard who will never get this Texan’s vote again.

Thanks, if CRUZ misses being re-elected by one vote, I'll know it was you.

Prior to Trump getting into the race, Cruz was for legalization, amnesty with no pathway to citizenship. Of course the no pathway to citizenship would last about 15 minutes in a D controlled Congress or in a liberal court room. Cruz is a snake.

George P is the only person that could make me pull the lever for Cruz. George P must be stopped even if that means voting for the snake Cruz.

As I watch Cruz destroy his credibility I keep thinking Dan Patrick has got to be noticing how horrible a candidate Ted Cruz is. Dan is still saying nice things abut Cruz, but Dan is a very ambitious man. Cruz will be primaried by either Patrick or Abbott. I am hoping Abbott cause Abbott would wipe the floor with Cruz and Patrick could take the governorship. But if Patrick goes after Cruz I think Patrick wins too.

I don't consider any man a 'great' man who doesn't keep his word!

All Cruz has shown me is a pettiness and dishonesty that exposes a very corrupt character.

TPP was ill defined at that point and he has since rejected TPP as the details emerged.

BullS**t, this is why I can't stand Cruz. He read TPP, he knew exactly what is was supporting. But went it became an unpopular he invented excuses rather then man up and defend his position. He did the exact same thing on immigration and H1B vistas. Ted Cruz is a liar.

Cruz is the GOP’s bjClinton/Obama all rolled into one. Loves the sound of his own voice. Uses the Bible as a prop. Smartest lawyer since the Clintons.

“if CRUZ misses being re-elected by one vote, I’ll know it was you.”

I would wear that like a badge of honor. So would a whole lot of Texans. Cruz is a lie from start to finish.

Technology, lifestyle, and education, to name a few, have changed significantly

You have a lot to learn. Those things are transient and except for education (lack of really in today's public schools) largely meaningless. What really matters is principles and values. Trump is returning Republicans and conservative to it's traditional principles and values on core issues. Yes he's probably more liberal on social issues than many would like, but on core issues like taxes, immigration, trade, security, wars and jobs Trump is vastly superior to lying neocon Ted.

Abbott is a dignified man. He would look very nice in Washington as a US Senator. Dan Patrick simply needs a higher profile, imho. But, I’m handicapped by my personal addiction to strictly National politics, so don’t mind me.

I will, however, be working against Ted Cruz, that’s for sure. Thx for your reply.

How old are you ?

Old enough to know when the political times are a changing.

How many local, state, and national political campaigns have you worked on?

All the above this political season - from grassroots to national. How about you? Prior doesn't matter because this year it's a totally new ball game with new faces and issues. But I have put in my hours and treasure to get conservatives elected in all levels of government. I have met Ted Cruz and many other conservative Texas politicians personally and I find Ted and most of them to be honorable and capable leaders for the times.

I would respond to your other personal attacks but it would be a waste of my time. But you have your opinions and I have mine. I wish you well and let's agree to disagree for now.

Those things are transient and except for education...

Those things you call transient mean a lot to the current working generation and their future. How well Trump relates his values and principles to them is crucial. If he screws this up we will have Hillary sitting in the Whitehouse next year.

I think as far as lying neocon Ted is concerned, Trump is on his on. If Ted were to support Trump who would believe him anyway. Trump burned that bridge when he called Ted a liar.
