Obama is gutting Medicare

Under the guise of “reform,” President Obama is dismantling Medicare — dooming seniors to needless pain and disability and shortening their lives.

The stakes are high, because Medicare and the access it gives patients to medical innovations have transformed aging. Before Medicare, older folks languished in nursing homes or wheelchairs with crippling illnesses. Now, seniors dodge that fate, thanks to hip and knee replacements, cataract operations and heart procedures — all paid for by Medicare.

From Day one I have maintain the health care reform in this guise was never intended to reform anything. It was intended only to destroy healthcare as we knew it.

How I despise and detest liberals and those who aid and abet them. Of all the things our political parties have done over my lifetime, few things have disillusioned and discouraged me as much as this “reformation” of Heath care has.

Another Obama rule penalizes hospitals for doing hip and knee replacements on patients likely to need rehab after surgery, causing hospitals to shun older patients with complex conditions. Grandma will have to settle for the painkiller as candidate Obama notoriously suggested.

Except that the DEA is systematically making it harder for doctors to prescribe pain killers. Patients with chronic pain conditions have to see a doctor every time the doctor writes a prescription for drugs that used to be routine. And doctors have to send patients for blood tests to make sure they have the drugs in their system, so they aren't selling them. All those visits and tests run up costs. And if doctors prescribe "too many" painkillers according to the DEA the doctors will find themselves under the gun, regardless of whether they are justifiable for those patients conditions.

Anyone over 65 remembers what America was like when it was great. This is a concerted effort to rid the nation of people who can speak to how great America once was. If the left can erase the collective memory and conscience of the nation, they can control more than just the narrative, they can control the “hearts and minds” of the youthful, slavish nation.

If Barack Obama is really gutting Medicare then it might go down as his one notable accomplishment.

Nobody likes to see old people suffer from poor health, but this nation can't afford unlimited Federal entitlements, either.

I pay about $370 a month for Medicare and a supp. Good rate, good insurance with the supplement, but is the benefit or the bureaucracy what is subsidized? How much do Medicaid folks pay for coverage?

In all fairness, there may be a bit of resentment built up against the Boomer generation.

Hasn’t been lots of fun watching that generation take the blood-earned legacy of freedom and prosperity and eat it like locusts, leaving only a stench of patchouli and bong water for following generations.

I’m sure this isn’t you nor any other FRiend of that age group, but plenty of others:

- Spent their youth contributing nothing and burning the hard-won savings of their parents;
- Wasted their college years in hippyism, social unrest, and disruption of American values;
- Turned around as Yippies and grabbed all the money and power they could, infesting every institution with leftist thought;
- Have now used that power to corrupt churches, schools, universities, the press, and American government at all levels;
- Sneered at generations X, Y, and Millenial, openly declaring that they intended to devour all prosperity and leave nothing;
- Saved little and spent their own, their inheritance, and most of following generations’ earnings on themselves and their lefty, destructive, mythological projects;
- And now, either being unable to work or having retired early, getting to the age where it isn’t all wine parties and travel junkets, are surprised that they haven’t earned the respect normally due to the elderly.

Again, it’s not you (I’m sure; haven’t met you but you’re here, right?) but you can see why not everyone is terribly thrilled with the DU types of that generation.
