Donald J. Trump fired his wunderkind campaign manager Corey Lewandowski Monday at the campaigns regular Trump Tower meeting.
Corey was escorted out of the building, a source close to the campaign told Breitbart News.
Lewandowski came to the meeting unaware that he had lost the support of the GOP presumptive nominee, the source said. At the meeting, attended by both senior campaign staff and members of the family, Trump reviewed different campaign metrics that were all faltering: cooperation with party leaders, fundraising, surrogate operations and most importantly the polls.
The campaign manager seemed to have run out of ideas. When the New York City developer asked Lewandowski what he would do to turn things around, the only thing he could come up with was for Trump to announce his pick for vice-president.
Pitching that as the solution sealed his fate, the source said. The VP pick was the one piece of suspense that would make people tune into the conventionCorey wanted to give that away now? There was no way.

in some cases you are right, but that ohrase is used an awful lot around here, concern troll. I didn’t think this was good news and posted that I thought that. However after reading the strategy some people think he is up to I have changed my mind. I wasn’t a concern troll in my first post.
The best way to flush out the DC sewage is with President Trump, who now owes no favors to the Republican establishment.
The "uninformed" US voters? Give it a rest. What we saw this cycle is that the elite in both parties were rigging the nominations before the process even started, then blaming the voters.
Another stop toward the complete emasculation of the American male. I hope this does not mean that Trump will wimp-out and start acting like the other RINOs.
If there’s a convention coup, the Republican Party dies.
Manafort has been running the campaign for several mos. Corey was not happy at second fiddle and they let him go. This stuff happens every campaign cycle. He will likely have another job next week. Trump is not in trouble and appears to be gaining on Hillary. I predict that after the convention he will pull into a lead over her.
First of all, I’m not convinced Trump is a conservative. His track record is moderate at best. The only reason people think he is conservative is that they want to believe what he says and what they want him to say. He has NO voting record therefore Jeb, Mitt, McCain and Co all have a more conservative voting record than Trump. Plus none of them gave money to Hillary and Kamala Harris as Trump did.
So pardon me for not joining the cult before the Convention. I will vote for the Republican nominee even if it is Trump, Mitt or Jeb. Any other vote would be for Hillary. I’m sure we all agree on #NoHillary
It wouldn’t need a coup. Trump could also drop out.

Went back and asked the mods to delete it so the GOPee wouldn't see it in case it's true.
Think golf. Corey was was a good 3 wood. Right now he’s in a sand trap. Time to grab a good wedge. Later we may see him bring in a good putter and put this thing away. I’m glad Trump is able to adapt to situations. He’s in it to win it!
Good riddance you Trump-hating sack o’ feces.
Actually, he’s in charge of one of the state delegations to the convention. I believe it’s the NH delegation.
The words "Escorted Out" conjure up images of being thrown out on his ear, and if so, then he had to have done something specific that warranted it.
If a change was needed to re-energize the campaign, the timing is better now than it would be closer to the convention, and certainly much better than after the convention.
What is the speculation on his successor?
I certainly hope they realize that. Rmember Mitt Romney went into election night believing he was winning. Much of the media pollitariat thought so too. Rove was still hanging on at 10:00 PM.
So, best to face facts early when a change in strategy can still help.
I would not say it's hopeless though. According to RCP he's only 1.5% behind in Ohio and Florida. If he can hold Romney's states and take those two he's at 253 electoral votes, of 270 needed.
It's doable, but you have to start *doing* something. Corey wasn't, so it's very good that he was moved aside.
I take this one at face value. Trump asked all the right questions.
Questions like these should be asked even on the good days, and certainly after a string of bad media days, something had to be done.
If true.. Corey certainly came up with the WRONG answer.
These negative variances in the several important areas that TRUMP put on the table did deserve address, and immediate triage. In politics, allowing any downturn to float and fester can be fatal.
Corey should have *known* that a staff change and expansion of staff was the correct answer. He should have volunteered to resign, in fact. Loyalty demands sacrifice, when things start to go South and you have failed to stem the tide, or stop the bleeding and actually reverse the trend.
Corey is a favorite of mine for the Herculean and miraculous accomplishments offered up to a miraculous candidate, but.. when it isn’t blue sky, you have to look at changes in a hurry and if one of them needs to by you.
It was not a sign of loyalty to dodge the obvious and replace it with something Donald should do— give away his big showpiece move set for the Convention.
A cheap shot just to try to keep your job looks very bad.
The TRUMP’s saw that clear as day in that meeting.
PS: Donald Jr., I read, had finally been convinced that Corey was not advancing the cause any longer, but possibly hurting it. Jr. was able to convince the other siblings, reportedly. TRUMP himself delayed but only until this meeting.
I don’t see him dropping out. But I suppose if it were to happen, the perception could be that he was forced out behind the scenes.
Either way, the party dies. I want someone in there who will actually stand up and fight for this country. And us.
He’s the only one doing it. The party needs a serious reboot.
The countless numbers of alarmed American voters are still secret.
Many, many are not floating their intentions for obvious reasons of threats and pressure and job security. Both privately and professionally many in our population can not push for the TRUMP campaign.
But, they sure as hell intend to vote for him!
