First on CNN: Priebus probes state GOP leaders over anti-Trump push
CNN ^ | June 17, 2016 | Sara Murray, CNN

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus has been quietly having conversations with state party leaders to discuss the latest push by convention delegates to nominate anyone other than Donald Trump.

Priebus has spoken with GOP party chairmen in multiple states in recent days in part to get a better sense of how large the anti-Trump faction is among their convention delegations, according to two people familiar with the conversations.

While Priebus has made clear in these conversations that he is not spearheading the latest push for a coup, his involvement sends a signal that the RNC is taking this effort to dump Trump seriously even as other movements have fizzled.

One source said Priebus' ultimate goal is unclear. But some anti-Trump forces are hoping to garner enough support to press the convention's rules committee to alter the rules governing the convention and open a path for a different candidate.

Ryan is a progressive Republican. He’s just fine with amnesty, obamacare (amended) and a liberal SCOTUS. In fact, he would be thrilled if the Dems did the heavy lifting on the progressive statist agenda and left him with some deniability.

If they try to pull anything like that I will never ever vote for a republican again. I have already told my congressman and senators.

Don’t do that. They WANT you to leave if you are not going to be a good serf and vote for the anointed candidates. Instead tell them you are going to stay and be their worst nightmare.

False choice.
But thanks for playing!

The Party’s stuck with Trump for good or ill- and knows it.
A third-party run by Trump would be the only chance to stop Hillary if the GOP was suicidal enough to reject him.

This is CNN click bait/wishful thinking. Aint gonna happen.

I agree. CNN, the WP and the NYT are trying to manufacture a revolt. Hopefully, even the GOPe isn’t that stupid.

But time will tell.

If this did happen would Trump go 3rd Party?
or

Would he support the contested nominee to prevent Hillary from winning and appointing up to 4 SC justices?

It’s not going to happen. This is just psywar to keep Trump in neutral gear. Trump is going to be the nom. Romney, Ryan and Cruz are planning a divisive convention. That’s what this is all about: Keeping the pot stirred until the convention.

Don’t do that. They WANT you to leave

I'm getting tired of them. The local sex pervert looks more upstanding than our local politicians.

Now I am hearing about a legal defense fund being set up. And delegates going into hiding because they are elected to vote for Trump, but don’t want to. Afraid of violence.

“There will be a big problem because I think if Hillary gets in, she gets in for eight years.”

I agree with you. This is indeed the plan, just hope that enough voters bother to think and will prevent Hillary from becoming our next president.

I’ll do my part! The press is trying to tear the party apart. Nothing like this is going on in a large way. If people don’t want to go to the convention because they are pissed off so be it. It is expensive to attend the convention. The party leadership will not allow a coup. It would be suicide for the Party.

I agree. There may be a very small group, but it is the liberal media that is creating a crisis.

I agree its unlikely, but what has got me intrigued is that for the first time ever before September I was polled by the Montana GOP last Thursday. One of the interesting questions was are you voting for the GOP candidate to stop Hilliary. I’m wondering if they are polling in other states and if the results of those polls might be fueling this....

Depending on their internal polling the GOP may conclude the stop Hilliary vote is greater than the pro Trump vote and something like this could work...just speculation on my part but the call got me wondering...

Did anyone see this @sshat from the Bush campaign on that Eric Bolling last night? The guy flat out says he’s not supporting Trump, and won’t shut up. Misrepresenting the man’s stance etc. The guy thinks his man is going to get in during the convention.

I thought Bush and his family are not attending the convention.

Look, Rince... let me explain this to you... YOU LOST. You had 16 candidates and Trump smoked all of them. You couldn’t even field a GOPe candidate in an open election... Pathetic.

. The voters have rejected the 16, count ‘em, 16 GOPe offerings and have sided with REAL change... You lost. The GOP is toast. Practice spelling WHIG... The voters in your very own primary have, in fact, told all of you to pound sand...

So... of you cook the convention to nominate something other than the guy who kicked your pants... then.... practice spelling WHIG... because the GOP is toast...

“The leadership of the Republican Party are all closet Democrats who were successful in infiltrating the GOP and are on the verge of imploding the party from within.”

I stopped thinking of them as “Republicans” and “Democrats” a while ago and replaced them with “Those who want the Federal Government to grow (Statists)” and “Those who want the Federal Government to shrink (Patriots)”.

When viewed through the two new lenses all of the debates, moves and countermoves made a lot more sense.

I still don’t trust Priebus as far as I can throw him ...this all stinks of political ‘good cop / bad cop’ tactics.

For all his (many, many) faults, Priebus is doing the right thing in this case.

“I’m getting tired of them. The local sex pervert looks more upstanding than our local politicians. “

Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first. ~ Reagan

This was probably true for 200 years before he said it. It was true when he said it and it’s still true now.

If any GOPe a$$holes try this chit at the convention, they should be dragged out of the convention hall into the street.

Maybe being drawn and quartered should be brought back from medieval times to the year 2016.
