Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin said on MSNBCs Morning Joe that the right to due process, guaranteed by the Fifth Amendment of the US Constitution, had made it difficult to pass gun-control legislation denying those on the FBIs terror watch list the ability to purchase a firearm.
The firewall we have right now is due process, the West Virginia senator said. Its all due process.
In the aftermath of the Orlando terror attack, which claimed the lives of 49 people, Democrats have renewed calls for legislation aimed at blocking individuals on the terror watch list from being able to buy a gun. Republicans have argued against such legislation, contending it would be wrong to strip citizens of their Second Amendment right without being convicted of a crime.
Manchin noted that the FBI did everything they were supposed to do, but had no way of blocking the Orlando attacker from purchasing a firearm. snip
He added: But due process is whats killing us right now.

I think re his re-election run, he’s toast.
What a fool.
Wow. A Senator.
Progressives have always had a big problem with the entirety of the Bill of Rights.
a shame in the sense that he did call on Barry Hussein to use the term “Islamic terrorism” and is one of the few Dems who believe in national unity, by doing so. He then has to bend over to prove he’s “progressive” with this comment.
What has that party gone to.
No, they didn't.
Political correctness forced the FBI to drop their investigation, because acting like an Islamic extremist made Mateen untouchable.
If he had expressed solidarity with literally any other religion, he would have been arrested and charged for making terroristic threats.
No, democrats and their policies, starting at the very top, are what’s killing us.
Pass such trash and everyone goes on a watch list....... Domestic Enemies at work in the bowels of congress. Remember their names folks.
“Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin”
Cross him off of Hildabeasts VP list.
FOAD, Manchin
People like this are starting to sound like the “star wars senators” in the former republic, as they get ready to grant absolute power to Senator Palpatine.
Their mantra used to be, “Better 99 guilty men go free than one innocent man be convicted.”
Whatever serves their purpose.
When Hillary is elected and appoints a new leftist member to the court, all that and much more will be cleared away.
We will merely be peasants in the globalist tyranny.
Sure, Joe. As long as the bill also removes and prevents them from running for federal office for 5 years if they vote for a bill that is found unconstitutional.
I could get behind that! (do I really need to add the sarcasm tag?)
Oy vey.
Good thing he went to law school so he could get all smartened up on due process and on the oath elected officials take.
You nailed it. What we need is not more gun control, but Muslim control.
Fine. Remove him immediately from office for treason. No need for a trial. Don’t want due process to slow things down you know.
So Joe You Don't Like the Constitution!
Do these dems realize that the hildabeast would be on the list since she is under criminal investigation by the FBI?
