Calling for more gun control in the wake of mass shootings has become the norm for the president, politicians, and pundits alike—and Orlando has been no different. This time, however, a more surprising face has joined the bandwagon: Fox News’ Gretchen Carlson.
“Yes, the Orlando massacre was terror,” she said, “But there’s no doubt that Omar Mateen was able to kill so many people because he was firing an AR-15, a military style assault weapon, a weapon easier to buy in the state of Florida than buying a handgun.”
Let’s break for a moment here to point out that right off the bat her facts are wrong. Mateen did not use an AR-15 in the attack, as Matt explained on Tuesday.
Anyway, Carlson went on to assure viewers she’s in favor of “people being able to carry,” but as for semi-automatic weapons, not so much, it seems.

If you ask news anchors what it’s like to be on teevee, they feign modesty and say ‘it’s like any other job after a while.’
But the lights and the knowledge that an audience is watching will eventually convince the foolish that they should editoralize despite a lack of experience and/or knowledge.
It’s hard not to stereotype pageant girls but Carlson has always betrayed a bit of the ‘bring about world peace and end hunger’ naivete from her competitive days.

This dope knows nothing about an AR 15. It is not an assault “assault” weapon. You have to pull the trigger each time for it to fire. Dopes. She’s just the latest on Faux News.

Fox News has never been the conservative bastion the left claims it to be. Fox News is ‘right of center’ with a few conservative commentators. This latest call (from Fox Contributor Gretchen Carlson) for more restrictions on the Second Amendment demonstrate that when push comes to shove, Fox News is willing to cede liberties in order to be politically correct.

Psstt...Gretchen. Those pistolas people carry are usually semi-automatic.
In other words, Congress should look at banning AR’s, AK’s and similar high capacity rifles.
O’Reilly went on to give some semblance of support for the 2Amendment by supporting the right of folks to own side arms, but that states should look into concealed laws.

If Immigration, Homeland security, and FBI was allowed to do their job by the Obama Admin, these people would not be in US. Responsibility for this attack lies squarely on Obama.

I have been wondering how the shooter got a long gun with extra mags into the nightclub. Surely he had to stand out.
There are certain words or terms that reporters love to say, for example, “it’s baked into the cake”.
it’s silly sometimes how hard they work to to put that expression into sentences, but you can see it. and they have certain guns they like to say, for example AK-47, AR-15 and Glock. some of them also know RPG.
but it’s a little bit like Mickey Mouse going down to play with the magician’s tools - soon there is a flood in the basement.

From the first hour....it was ID’ed as a AR15. I think about middle of the second day....they started correcting themselves. If you went to any of the pretender journalists and put both the AR15 and SIG out there....none of them would be able to identify which was which. In this case, within the building...the SIG makes more sense than the AR15.
Fox News, which is the propaganda outlet for the GOPe/Wall Street Journal, has come out in favor of the “assault weapons” ban. Mitch McConnell has said he is “open to discussions” with the Dems over a proposed ban. No doubt Paul Ryan will be along shortly.
Everyone, Trump, the NRA, Christians, firearms, you-name-it have been bashed 24/7 since Orlando. Everyone that is but Muslims and the FBI.
