Former attorney general: Trump right to question judges fairness
By Mark Hensch
Former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales says Donald Trump is right to challenge the fairness a judge overseeing lawsuits against him.
An independent judiciary is extremely important. But that value is not the only one in play here, Gonzales wrote in a Saturday op-ed for The Washington Post.
"Equally important, if not more important from my perspective as a former judge and U.S. attorney general, is a litigants right to a fair trial, he continued.
The protection of that right is a primary reason why our Constitution provides for an independent judiciary. If judges and the trials over which they preside are not perceived as impartial, the public will quickly lose interest in the rule of law upon which our nation is based. Trump on Thursday said U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiels Hispanic ethnicity is an absolute conflict in three civil fraud lawsuits against the billionaire.
He said Curiels Mexican heritage makes him partial because of Trumps calls for a wall along Americas southern border with Mexico.

It would be more like an October Weheardallthisalready Anticlimax.
Something else is in the works
He has his PI working on it. Just a hunch that hit last night. LaRasa wants to claim USTerritory as part of Mexico. Did you see all the sign at the San Jose riots? After listening to Newt and a couple of others,
Am betting that he has or suspects more than we are privy to. Something is up!
No one has mentioned if his parents were legal. Indiana has illegal immigrants too
BINGO!
If his link to the La Raza can be proven.
good point, and I have been wondering about the legality of the judge’s parents... Trump is so canny, he may well be preparing the judge and the MSM for more to come......
The judge was outed by Trump. First pretty clumsily and then most definitively vis-a-vis La Raza. I don’t know what level of Judge he is but accusations like these that get dragged through the media are career busters.
In the last couple of days there was an article where the same judge awarded some LaRaza scholarships to area students.
Didn’t keep the link unless it’s saved under key word Fifth Column
And the judge is a member of La Raza,a terrorist group supporting illegal activities at our border.

Forty years ago there were very few Mexicans in Indiana
In the southern part of state they worked in fields and canning factories.
Don’t know of any in the northern part where I was raised.
We had a few students at university They were from the very wealthy families None employed in labor jobs at factories or construction. That came with the Clinton/Bush in 90s
The question is whether this judges's strong identification with his ethnic group would bring bias into his sitting as judge in a case where the defendant has taken stances strongly opposed by Mexican activists and members of the organization the judge is associated with.
Hey I heard there’s a new paint by number kit available at Michael’s. Its a zot. :-)
The man should be disqualified as a judge for any case, much less a case involving the man who wants to end Mexican invasion.
How's he supposed to do that when the MSM has been reporting only half of the story, all day.
Ironically, fox is reporting the half-story in close proximity to their righteous indignation over the White House getting caught, again, editing the public record.
Two points:
(1) You write: “Its difficult to see Trumps litigation strategy here....If he thinks that this will somehow make the judge rule his way, hes a fool.”
But Trump is running for President. His attacks on the judge are probably related to that rather than “litigation strategy.”
(2) You write: “If Trump really thinks that being a Mexican, donation to Clinton and being an immigration advocate disqualifies a judge, he is wrong.”
“La Raza” means “The Race.” It is a radical, left-wing, racist organization that advocates a Mexican conquest of the US Southwest. Calling him an “immigration advocate” is like calling Rambo a “problem solver.”
No member of La Raza should sit on the federal bench—that he is a judge is an outrage. He should certainly recuse himself in a case featuring the world’s most prominent advocate of a wall. It is like if a member of Aryan Nation sat as the judge on Al Sharpton’s tax fraud trial (OK, Sharpton will never be brought to justice—but if he were). The two cases are no different and the left shouldn’t get a pass. Shining the spotlight on this judge is not wrong—it’s a good thing.
Curiel is both a bag man for laundering cartel drug money and in the employment of Mexican drug cartels.
There were some migrants working around Plymouth as far back as I can remember. There was a pickle processing plant there and they would come and go with the seasons.
I knew a fellow in the 90’s in Tipton County that everyone called “Mexican Jimmy”. Had the sweetest little wife, Sophie.
He was the recruiter/enforcer for a local tomato farmer. He would go to Mexico in early spring to line up workers for planting season through harvest. Anyone got out of line, he’d make sure they were dropped back off at the border immediately.
And when harvest was over, they’d go back south. only 20 years ago.
Now, they’ve taken over entire towns like Frankfort. (Frito Lay there)
No, he makes any ruling against him look fraudulent in the eyes of the voting public. It is smart so that if he loses, the public discounts it.
