Hillary Clinton holds a 3-point lead over Donald Trump in a new Florida poll that shows Hispanics are helping the Democrat and also that the newly named Libertarian presidential candidate might be hurting the Republican.
Clintons 45-42 percent lead over Trump in the Mason-Dixon Polling & Research survey resembles other recent Florida polls that showed a close race between the two. However, unlike other Florida surveys, Mason-Dixon polled Libertarian Gary Johnson for the first time in the state and found he comes in a distant third, with 6 percent.
In a state known for close top-of-the-ticket races, Johnsons relatively small support could have big consequences.
Clinton is gaining her edge in two key areas some defections from Trump to Johnson among white Republican and independent voters and extremely strong support for her among Hispanics (68%), Mason-Dixon pollster Brad Coker wrote in a memo for the poll of 625 likely voters. Its error margin is 4 points.

On the other hand, I can’t imagine the Venezuelans who have moved there would be very enthusiastic about any Democrat.
So do I so they think their candidate is winning and won't change any of their strategy...lol
“Johnson and Weld are open borders left-wingers.” “If they pull from anyone, it should be Hitlery.”
The voters don’t know that yet. Once they learn about the two, Trump should pick up the votes. Weld might as well be a Democrat. If the GOP plays it right, they could paint these two as Clintonites and cause her to bleed voters.
The Libertarians have always run a presidential candidate and so I don’t consider them spoilers. I think that six percent will go down as we move through the campaign. That Bill Weld running mate is a real piece of work.
It does look like another week will pass without a serious third party threat. Looks like Billy Kristol was just teasing us last weekend as he has nothing and more state deadlines are approaching. Maybe Billy sucked on a bad ice cube when he sent that tweet out.
On the surface the poll looks legit.
I’ve never met any Venezuelans. I’ll have to ask my new next door neighbors while they’re burning stuff in the back yard tonight..........................
I drive around my state all the time and I would love to know how they got these results when I never see anyone who is excited for her or even more than one sticker a week for her.
Did the poll it in the pan handle? You, know, the place they seem to forget about (Too many members of the military there, and their votes don’t count?)
While I would prefer to see Trump ahead, I still think this poll is largely good news for Trump in a very diverse state. He needs to reverse some of his unfavorables but I think it’s very doable. It looks likely that he’ll sweep the rest of the South (with the possible exception of Virginia) and that will only help him in Florida. He’s stronger in Florida than many realize, as we saw in the GOP primary there where he crushed native son Marco Rubio.
I am at a resort in browsed cty. Around the pool I thought I might be at a port of entry. ESL here almost 90 percent today.
Rick Scott for VP?
..and Zika’s....
It doesn't measure enthusiasm.
It's who people will stand in line to vote for that counts. There's just no energy behind Hillary Clinton.
I'm not too worried about the polls right now.
This poll was taken mostly before Ryan endorsed Trump. I agree this is mostly good news. He has 4 months to work on the minority and woman vote.
Somewhat related to this, no doubt the Democrats will use labor unions as part of their get out the vote efforts. Recent indications are that, increasingly, the rank and file are starting to support Trump. A union get-out-the-vote may play into Trump's hand.
Where’s Debbie...she’s been AWOL recently.
Must be a shortage of mayo in her home state.
He can win but the give up on Hispanics there is not a smart approach.
In what Universe does criminal behavior outrank what is right?
LOL sure she does...
