While I would prefer to see Trump ahead, I still think this poll is largely good news for Trump in a very diverse state. He needs to reverse some of his unfavorables but I think it’s very doable. It looks likely that he’ll sweep the rest of the South (with the possible exception of Virginia) and that will only help him in Florida. He’s stronger in Florida than many realize, as we saw in the GOP primary there where he crushed native son Marco Rubio.

This poll was taken mostly before Ryan endorsed Trump. I agree this is mostly good news. He has 4 months to work on the minority and woman vote.

Of course, as in any election, turnout is crucial. My gut is that Trump has a vastly larger enthusiasm factor than does Hillary. One thing to say you favor someone, another to actually go and pull the lever.

Somewhat related to this, no doubt the Democrats will use labor unions as part of their get out the vote efforts. Recent indications are that, increasingly, the rank and file are starting to support Trump. A union get-out-the-vote may play into Trump's hand.
