A few months ago, I wrote that Donald Trump would win the GOP presidential nomination but that would be the end of the line for him. I was sure that Trump just couldn't shore up enough of the already too small Republican base to win in November, thus nearly guaranteeing not only a loss but a big loss to Hillary Clinton in the general election.
Well, I was wrong.
In the 80-odd days since I wrote that piece, I've been seeing more and more evidence of why my predictions for Trump's demise were wrong and that his chances of winning in the general election look pretty decent.

This guy’s a little too late to the party to convince me that I should listen to him.
Kudos to him for admitting he was wrong.
I think it’s becoming increasing clear to beltway elites that Trump is going to win in a landslide.
Some are still in denial.
Pundits, like the markets, are increasingly comfortable with a Trump presidency.
Plus, Hillary is an appallingly bad candidate.
I’ve seen a few TDS FReaks here today ramping it up in desperation.
Novak starts to see some of the reality that is Trump.
The longer these isolated elites take to see it, the better for the Trump campaign.
It is interesting that he sees private marketing experience as far more persuasive than political marketers... even though the political marketers are operating in their specialty.
I’ve been saying for months that Trump will win because he knows how to manipulate the media like no one else. Hillary is boring. Trump is exciting. Even the media would actually prefer a Trump presidency for the constant good copy and the advertising revenue he’ll generate. They may dislike what he stands for, but they’re adrenaline junkies and money wh*res and will go wherever the excitement and revenue is. And that’s with Trump.
They dread the boredom of Hillary presidency.
I’ll be impressed when I read this kind of article written by Krauthammer, Kristol, or Mandy Carpenter.
Gee thanks whoever you are we really were waiting on your blessing.
As much as I would like for him to be President, he won’t be. Hillary will win. She’ll cheat to do it, but she WILL win.
Hillary is going to get smashed or any other Dem they can throw at him.
They sure operate under a LOT of false pretenses. Like “shrinking base” for example. Yeah, loads haven’t voted for the elite candidates for the last few rounds, yeah. Doesn’t mean the base is gone. They see futility clearly. This time, we have a candidate that is WILLING and enjoying fighting back. We’ve been wanting an outsider willing to throw punches. Trump is doing that.
Care to put some money on that? I have a bet going on here already from August of last year that Trump will still be in the race come this November, $50 donated to Free Republic. I’ll make the same bet with you that Trump will win this.
Yup! Still boating on that famous Egyptian waterway.
“Yup! Still boating on that famous Egyptian waterway.”
I wonder if Trump Deniers could be prosecuted under RICO?
“Shell cheat to do it, but she WILL win.”
She won’t win FL or OH.
She may even lose NY and/or CT.
It’s not even going to be close.
This isn’t the 90’s and the Clinton’s are NOT all-powerful invincibles they once were.
We’ll see.
40 to 45 states for Trump.
That’s my prediction now, subject to being moved upwards.
The author had me at...”America’s demographics, news media, and educational establishments have all successfully destroyed the traditional Republican message for at least a generation.”
This is WHY I switched from Cruz to Trump! I liked (and still do) Cruz as well as some of the others but NONE had realized that the “R” label is a dead on arrival brand at the general election level, hence why the Republicans have only won ONE popular vote in over 24 YEARS!
