Retired Army Col. Peter Mansoor plans to vote for Hillary Clinton for president this year, but not because the longtime Republican and former top aide to then-Gen. David Petraeus has had a political conversion. He just thinks Republican Donald Trump is too dangerous to be president.
“It will be the first Democratic presidential candidate I’ve voted for in my adult life,” said Mansoor, a professor of military history at Ohio State University.
Clinton’s campaign hopes that there are many more national-security-minded Republicans and independents who would vote for her, even grudgingly, rather than see Trump win the White House.

I did my five years in combat arms and then watched my son go to Afghanistan for two tours, so I am not hateful of the military. However, I also realize that for the 54 years of my life this country has basically been in low boil war - not declared by Congress, for nearly 30 years. I truly hope that Mr. Trump’s statements about not being so swift to send our fellow citizens on another war du jour is true. Aren’t we all sick of it? No country can stay a country if it is continually in war.

I suspect she defines the nation as “a certain land mass between Canada and Mexico, and all individuals therein present, plus any individuals present elsewhere who need taxpayer dollars, plus any business enterprises employing foreigners who pay taxes to the US Treasury”.
