“I would hope that these evangelical leaders come to the realization that we don’t necessarily need a President that thumps the Bible and inserts scripture into daily press releases. What we DO need is a POTUS that is respectful toward all religions...we can do the evangelizing.”

Well said.

Give me a break, G, and quit turning everything into accusatory remarks.

God has given His children plenty in His Word for discernment. God knows the hearts of every person, as well as He has instructed His children to know and avoid the false, and to rebuke when falsehoods are taught. Prayer for fellow Christians , the lost, our government, our families, and ourselves are part of the Christian life.

You have been using ‘accusatory remarks’ against at least 3 of us on this thread..........Perhaps you should read your own posts.

I went back to read previous posts of yours.

Realized your accusation of Trump reflects your proCruz leanings......which explained a lot.

I will say once more......ONLY God knows a man’s heart.

God knows where Trump is spiritually .......
......and my constant prayers are for Mr.Trump and his family....
.......and I pray for Christian nurturing in the form of seasoned believers to come alongside him and help direct his paths.

Every Christian needs this, whether newly reformed .....or seasoned warrior

There are many of us who know where Trump is spiritually.
We have been told to beware of the false...and He has given us His Spirit so that we are able to do so. The Word of God is the plumbline, and the “us” and the “we” refer to true Christians.

Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide, and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter by it.

For the gate is small, and the way is narrow that leads to life, and few are those who find it.

BEWARE of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.

You will know (Or, recognize) them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes, nor figs from thistles, are they? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit; but the bad tree bears bad fruit.

A good tree CANNOT produce bad fruit, NOR can a bad tree produce good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

So then, you will know them by their fruits.

Not everyone who says to Me, “Lord, Lord,” will enter the kingdom of heaven; but he who DOES THE WILL of My Father who is in heaven.

—Jesus’ words in Matthew 7:13-19

Some of the many who have recognized the fruits of the false:

It appears to me as more of a lobbying expedition... just to remind about the values important to this [bifurcated] group. I only watch a select few 'popular' preacher types, but have not heard any of them dump on Trump.

I asked him to support his inaccurate statement of fact (that Trump has "stated he is not a Christian") with a citation before I read the rest of the thread, where in post 68 he presented Bible-based arguments shifting the ground under his inaccurate statement of fact to a theological deconstruction about what constitutes a fact.

This exchange illustrates in a nutshell how doctrinaire Christians have lost the culture wars, and more specifically, how Ted Cruz lost the battle for broad voter support. It's a lack of accountability for their own self-righteously false statements, which we saw on full display when TC started wildly distorting Trump's positions in an attempt to demonize him.

More than that, it's an Alinsky tactic that the left has been using against the center and the right: when they are losing an argument, they try to redefine the terms of the argument or the meaning of the words in their argument, and further, to get a higher power such as a court to institutionalize their distorted meaning of the words or terms — because of their moral superiority. This is the essence of Political Correctness vs. common sense, against which Mr. Trump has been successfully campaigning.

The thing that lit your fire was the single statement that Trump had stated that he is not a Christian. Well I found a few times where he said he “is” Christian, is Protestant, Presbyterian, as in a religious or denominational sense, and finally, “a” Christian. Granted, my first statement was inaccurate. Should have just said I don’t think he is a Christian.

As for your “citation,” the Bible is the authority for what a Christian, OR A TRUE BELIEVER, is. The statements I made about being a Christian were neither false, distortions, or attempts to demonize anyone, or Alinsky methods. I think that may be more up your alley.

One way would be for Trump to declare that he would recind Onama’s executive order 13672.

Four Illinois congressmen agreed with Obama about that. I work for Joe Kopsick, a new party candidate who is running against Rep. Dold.

>> Are we Electing a Pope or a President? <<

Well, given that its "Evangelical leaders" meeting with Trump, I doubt they're voting in a papal conclave. A lot of evangelicals on this board love to sneer about how they don't recognize the authority of the Pope and don't give a whiff about what he supports, so I will return the favor and say the same about their "leaders". They can meet with Trump all they want. They do not speak or represent the majority of Christians in this country.

I blame the Cruz campaign for not pushing this issue along with other issues. Including ethanol.Cruz took a firm stand on but pussy footed and backed off. He let Trump and the media run the show. His advisors were looking at the big ticket items they failed to bang away at big goverment rules and regulations that affect voters in their daily life. With the ethanol issue there sould have been compaisison visuals near gas stations made up showing who was supporting that boon doogle and the Cruz position.

When Reagan ran not only did he just go after the delegates (ran as alternate) but also the popular vote. We had an issue similar to this and we leafleted different churches as members of these conregation were leaving as well as their parking lots with his position . We backed this up with full page newspaper ads (that are in the Reagan Library) citing conservative positions which I designed and flooded the district with them.

Use that questioaire which sets the stage. While there is no reference to the public school lavatory question if you work that in. Bring up the addionional costs on modification.

>> I still haven't quite gotten over how Dobson sandbagged Fred Thompson last time—as if McCain is a "better" Christian? More loyal to Republican principles? We see how that turned out. Dobson is a very judgmental guy <<

I never understood how Dobson is considered a "Christian leader" anyway. Apparently having a secular psychology degree and radio show about family issues makes him some great biblical scholar and revered religious authority. How that works is beyond me. He's about as qualified to act as a Christian spokesman as Bill Nye is an expert on science.

I totally agree. I’ve heard him say that people sometimes mistakenly call him “Reverend.” He must enjoy it or he would have firmly rebranded himself.

My wife, Nicole, is a Lutheran pastor, and she never heard of Dobson until about three months ago.

Maybe there is no Christian radio in your area. That’s where he made his mark, with the Focus on the Family radio programming, but he stepped down from the daily radio thing about 8 years ago.

I live in the Chicago area, which has at least three Christian radio stations. I first heard of Dobson about 25 years ago. My wife doesn’t listen to the radio, except for music.
