China's foreign ministry has denied reports that Chinese food companies are canning human flesh and selling it in Africa as corned beef.
The country's state-run Xinhua news agency said one tabloid newspaper in Zambia was falsely quoting an unnamed woman living in China.
She said Chinese firms were collecting dead human bodies, marinating them and packing them in tins.
Chinese spokesman Hong Lei said the reports were "irresponsible".

Dang Jessup. Great minds think alike.
That is a can of herring. Looks like a lower jaw of one of the fish got through quality control.
Arlantikichskaya Sel’d’. Atlantic Herring
Okay. It’s marinated to remove the chicken flavor and then brined. How’s that?
No thanks.
From old German kosher plants?
The Japanese were also sick in the head regarding human respect.
Whatever. Don’t really care at this point. The chinese are master cooks and everything they make is perfect and delicious. Maybe you can stop worrying about my opinion of chinese corned beef now.
“To Serve Man”
“IT’S A COOKBOOK!”
During the Soviet days, a can of meat would be labled “meat” and a can of fish would be labled “fish”.
I didn’t buy either.
An improvement over African bush meat, to be sure.
“Soylent Green! Now with more girls!!!”
Chinese hi-SAT scorers have already invented a chemical process that turns offal, dog meat, rat skins and human flesh into beef:
Considering some of the things chinese companies have been caught doing to their products, including the types of meat products they actually use in things compared to what they say they use, I actually can more than half believe they would have no problem doing this.
On the other hand, human flesh reportedly tastes nothing like beef, let alone corned beef. Or chicken.
Look up historical references beginning with cannibalism for proof of exactly that.
I heard a joke song not too long ago that relates to this:
Did you ever think, when you ate Chinese
It’s not pork or chicken but a fat Siamese
Yet the food tastes great, so you don’t complain.
But that’s not chicken in your chicken chow mein.
(Sung to the tune of: “The Cat’s in the Cradle”.)
With some onion powder, soy sauce, a touch of citrus, and some garlic it would taste like jerky.
Billy. The “other” white meat.
You got to hand it to Japs though, they are really gifted at pretending they never did anything wrong.
But I don’t like human flesh tinned as corned beef. I’d like some Spam.
I know that herring does not have pink stringy meat and wouldn't withstand that type of canning. I also know that the tiny Atlantic herring is a plankton feeder and doesn't require those type of teeth.
That image has made the rounds of the Internet. Most people seem to think that something other than herring was canned by mistake.
