Donald Trump will meet Monday with Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker, whom key Republicans consider a possible running mate for the presumptive nominee.
The pair is scheduled to meet at Trump Tower in New York City, The Washington Post reports, citing sources who asked not to be named.
Corker, 63, is chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He is the former mayor of Chattanooga and was first elected to Congress in 2006.
He has had a key role in many foreign policy issues involving the Obama administration, including the Iran nuclear deal.

I think the historical consensus is that Arthur did everything Garfield was supposed to do.
bump
Maybe this is a false leak by the Trump campaign to keep the Democrats off balance. I certainly hope so.
Counterfactual history (invented by Herodotus) can be fun, even if unprovable. Would John Adams have purchased Louisiana? Would Henry Clay have gone to war with Mexico? Would Charles Evans Hughes gone to war with Germany? What would Europe have looked like in 1948 if FDR had died one year sooner and Henry Wallace had won the election of 1944--France, Italy and Greece might have been Communist countries. Would Richard Nixon have botched the Bay of Pigs invasion and encouraged the coup against Diem?
Only when we're awake.
Is his tailor a US senator and a “leader” of the GOP too?
I would invite you to use the browser of your choice and search for “Corker Trump”; there is a LOT more than just Newsmax and it’s not just left-wing media. Whatever the purpose of their apparent alignment, Trump needs to know what most of us who pay attention think of Corker.
Corker would bolster what many of Trump’s critics are claiming is a lack of foreign policy expertise. While that may be true to some extent, picking Corker for VP, Secretary of State or any other senior position in the administration, would alienate a LOT of voters who actually pay attention, i.e., conservatives.
Arthur supposedly was a “Stalwart” meaning he favored the spoils system-—but as soon as he got in he favored reform.
It’s not going to be Corker. I’ll give 10 to 1 odds it will be Jess Sessions.
All the people claiming Trump has a lack of ‘foreign policy experience’ are the people who have gotten us into war after pointless war, made us untrusted by our allies and unfeared by our enemies.
Trump is happy to gladhand those guys and say “that guy is great” about any one of them, but he isn’t looking to appease them or to include them in anything important. His desire to keep them out of the loop isn’t about ideology; it is about competence. He doesn’t trust their judgement and doesn’t want them anywhere near the levers of power. Therefore, the idea that Trump would pick this guy (at least for that reason anyway) is completely asinine.
If he does that...
I haven’t heard Corker mentioned as a potential running mate before. He would be a rather poor choice. The idea that this meeting pertains to that appears to be purely speculative, so I’d chillax.
It may just be about reaching out and consolidating support, which is something Trump absolutely should be doing.
I agree... Geez, NOT Corker!!
