Billionaire David Koch will bankroll Libertarian candidate and former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnsons third party presidential run with tens of millions of dollars, according to a report. The eight-figure sum may help Johnson win the Libertarian Party nomination and break into the mainstream.
Johnson also ran for president in 2012 as a third party candidate and won some 1.275 millon votes, 0.99 percent of the popular vote. Libertarian candidates may have cost the GOP several congressional race victories that year. (David Koch himself was the Libertarian Partys vice presidential nominee in 1980 when he and Ed Clark set the record for most votes for the party.)
Kochs pledge is significant: Charles and David Koch both promised not to use their war chest of hundreds of millions to stop now-presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump from securing the nomination in March, turning later that month to down-ballot races.

A fool and his money.
Apparently the Left does not hold exclusive rights to do-gooders. Apparently the Right has its own share also.
A lot of votes may leave from the Democrat candidate (Monica’s ex-boyfriend’s wife)
Really? I don’t have any big hate for Johnson or Koch but this sure sounds like the start of a dumb idea.
I am SO happy to see these slimeball Koch Bros. be exposed for what they are and have ALWAYS been. I got beat up badly around here a couple years ago for trying to expose them.
Gary Johnston was my governor and is a pretty nice/smart guy.
He’s definitely gone off the libertarian extreme side lately.
He’s pro-pot and could attract Bernie voter.
And he’d certainly dismantle the federal government.
Koch has denied this.
Sounds like Johnson made it up to fool other donors into giving him money.
How did the Koch Brothers and George Soros end up on the same page dealing in the same objectives?
The only objective would be to elect Herself (or her surrogates). To keep The Donald from being elected is, by default, working to elect whatever other viable candidate the Democrats put up, whether it turns out to be Herself or not.
Better the Koch brothers simply keep their money in an old fruit jar, and bide their time until things are more perspicuous to advance the agenda they have pursued up to now.
For now, protect the Republican majorities in the House and Senate.
Why bother to support a third party candidate-just contribute to Hillary’s campaign.
“Conservative” Koch. Really, just another scum Crony Capitalist.
Johnson is a terrible candidate. Waste of money and time.
Cool.
Great way to spread the wealth.
No harm done.
Anne Romney would make a better candidate for the 3rd party.
How about Anne Romney/Mitt Romney (”We will decide”)
You were right then! Sorry nobody listened.
+1
Johnson is going to win under 1% of the vote and he won’t carry a single state.
But David Koch likes to throw his money, if it makes him feel better.
Not what I would call a winning bet.
Glad he’s got money to burn

“Did I hear you say that there must be a catch?
Will you walk away from a fool and his money?
Sonny, if you want it, here it is, come and get it,
But you better hurry ‘cause it’s going fast.”
