Newt, qualifies as Chief of Staff but he would need an extra large chair to hold both him and his bride. Much like Slick Willie and Hillary, the two come as a packaged team. Newt seldom does nor says anything without involving his wife in the set up. Perhaps it's his instinct to do so after his last marriage, but that in itself is a turn off to many of his fans. CottonBall just heard reported that Bill Chrystal and Romney are trying to get several 3rd party candidates on the ballot in each of the battle ground states so a different candidate in each state hoping to prevent Trump or Clinton from getting 270 electoral votes then pushing election to house!!! I for one have had ENOUGH OF THESE BASTARDS!!!! I TRULY wish Romney WOULD DROP DEAD!!!! Thurston High School Teacher Beats Trump and Clinton Piñata with a Bat

UPDATE 2: Chad Towe, principal at Thurston High Scool, sent the following statement which addresses the original complaint we received – Edited to remove personal information:

Thank you Mr. Larson,

I too appreciate you sharing your concerns with the district. I agree that this incident is inconsistent with the values and the culture we seek to create here in my school. I have personally spoken with the teacher who agrees that this was a moment of poor judgment, and is apologetic for the poor reflection this incident has had on our students and our school. In no way do I condone the incident and can assure you that a similar situation will not be repeated.

As this has garnered greater attention I do believe it is important to provide additional clarity in the summary of the circumstances. This incident took place during a celebration of an Advanced Placement Government class that had recently completed their strenuous examinations. This is a senior level class that has been following the national political campaigns throughout the semester, rather than a literature class as Mr. Larson’s web story reports. I share this not to defend the actions of the students or instructor but to provide you, Mr. Larson and his audience clarity around the totality of a very short clip.

Thurston High School values the inclusion of all perspectives in our course work and this incident has provided yet another real world opportunity for learning for both our staff and students.

UPDATE 1: A comment on this post from a student claiming responsibility for the incident, offers this explanation:

Hey Mr. Larson, my name is Solace, I was the student who brought the piñata. It was for our party that we had in class. We had just finished our big AP United States History and Government exam the day before and I thought it would be fun to bring a piñata. All the students thought it was a funny idea and I made sure to have both of the primary candidate’s faces so that no one would get offended. Please don’t take this out on Mr. Nice, this is 100% my fault for wanting my classmates to be happy. He wasn’t taking time out of teaching because we have already learned all the material. Next time I use my freedom of expression, I’ll make sure to check with the principle first. I’d be happy to speak with the parent, who had the decency to bring this to a national radio station and not just contact the school, if they want to tell me what I did wrong.

ORIGINAL POST: A parent of a student at Thurston High School emailed the show to complain about a teacher beating a piñata with with the face of Donald Trump in front of his class.

Here’s the original complaint with personal information removed:

My daughter took video yesterday of her literature class yesterday. Great, right? Well, instead of teaching Lit, the teacher, thought it would be better to take an effigy of Donald Trump, hang it from a tree at Thurston High School, and proceed to bash it with a baseball bat. All on the taxpayer dime… My daughter was shocked. If you’d like the video of Mr. Nice from Thurston High School in Springfield, let me know. I’m waiting on a call back from the principal this morning for an explanation.

We put in a call to Thurston High School and learned that the piñata also had Hillary Clinton’s face. We have not received a call back from the Thurston High School principal, or the assistant principal.

A man called the show and claimed to know the teacher in the video. He claimed that the incident was being blown out of proportion. When asked why the piñata had pictures of Clinton and Trump, the caller said it was the teacher’s choice.

Always amasee me how tall Barron is at age 10. His parents are 6’ 6-4 He is going to be YUGE !

One of my dear friends had a very tall son. My heart always went out to him. When young he wanted to crawl up on his mom’s lap and it always reminded us of Baby Huey.
People always expected him to act years older than he was. Tough to be a kid when you’re as tall as many adults. Glad they are keeping him out of the spotlight.
