An anonymous congressman has dropped a bombshell election-year book that confirms why Americans hate their national government and have rallied to anti-establishment presidential candidates like Donald Trump.
The veteran politician lays bare a rotten and corrupt Congress enslaved by lobbyists and interested only in re-election in an anonymous, 65-page manifesto called “The Confessions of Congressman X.”
“Like most of my colleagues, I promise my constituents a lot of stuff I can never deliver,” he admits. “But what the hell? It makes them happy hearing it . . . My main job is to keep my job.”
The House member — a Democrat who is either still in Congress or served sometime over the past two decades — says more time is spent fund-raising than reading bills and calls Washington a “sinkhole of leeches.”

So far I’ve seen nothing that indicates that this book’s author is a real Congressman rather than just someone on the outside who can see the obvious. What in this Congressman’s story is new to anyone?

The arrogance that he can actually say it and not feel any shame or concern that the sheep he lords over can do a damn thing about it?
Term limits
I’ve had it cross my mind more than a few times that the sheep deserve to be treated like sheep because they insist on acting like sheep. While I haven’t fully come to accept this proposition, it wouldn’t surprise me that the political class has, especially with the incentives they receive to rationalize the situation in this way.
Sheep = Democrat voters.
Instant Gratification = Welfare, food stamps, subsidized housing, free medical care, etc.
We are ready for our Caesar.
The politicals have contempt for people. Not hard to rationalize contempt for a citizenry that exhibits soaring and searing stupidity.
I agree. I would be extremely cautious attributing this to a “congressman”. It sounds bogus to me, and I’d give 8-5 odds it will be revealed as a hoax within a few weeks, if not days. I am sure many congressmen think this way, but they learn to keep their thoughts to themselves, or they would be out of job.
I for one have long since ceased my quest to save people, as it has been made clear every way possible that people simply don’t want to be saved, they want to pursue the current trajectory until impact because any change from that trajectory scares them.
Voters are described as gullible, know-nothing jerks, while the only people who count are the big donors who pour billions of dollars into lobbying.
I have for years pointed this out. The money is making the decisions and LITERALLY causing those below millionaire level to be enslaved.

Well, “Congressman X” did say he had to fund raise all the time instead of actually doing the job he was elected to do. Why do we think that being in Congress is such an enviable job and many seek such an opportunity?
