Obama’s last act is to force suburbs to be less white and less wealthy
New York Post ^

Hillary’s rumored running mate, Housing Secretary Julian Castro, is cooking up a scheme to reallocate funding for Section 8 housing to punish suburbs for being too white and too wealthy.

The scheme involves super-sizing vouchers to help urban poor afford higher rents in pricey areas, such as Westchester County, while assigning them government real-estate agents called “mobility counselors” to secure housing in the exurbs.

Castro plans to launch the Section 8 reboot this fall, even though a similar program tested a few years ago in Dallas has been blamed for shifting violent crime to affluent neighborhoods.

It’s all part of a grand scheme to forcibly desegregate inner cities and integrate the outer suburbs.

Anticipating NIMBY resistance, Castro last month threatened to sue suburban landlords for discrimination if they refuse even Section 8 tenants with criminal records. And last year, he implemented a powerful new regulation — “Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing” — that pressures all suburban counties taking federal grant money to change local zoning laws to build more low-income housing (landlords of such properties are required to accept Section 8 vouchers).

I saw this happen in the university town in Iowa I grew up in. They took a small number of Chicago “families”, and after less than two years decided not to continue that because of the crime and lack of civil behavior.

The article points out that it’s a failure that harms the suburban residents and doesn’t help those who are relocated.

Just because it hasn’t worked, doesn’t mean dims won’t keep trying it in the hope it eventually will.

The main failure is that the relocatees haven’t been properly introduced to the norms of civil behavior.

A la, Clockwork Orange.

“Won’t we just get more “white flight” as these plans are implemented? All this will accomplish is pushing nicer suburban areas farther and farther out from the central city.”

What’s happening in Boston and parts of NYC is that they are becoming gentrified and thus very expensive. Some of the “white flgiht” is into the cities.

Horrendous organizations like Project Hope are relocating the dead beats to the suburbs.

If there is indeed no political process to stop this, it will indeed lead to revolution.

It's called the "Share the WealthCrime. For some reason it doesn't resonate with working class residents.

His own personal animosity and blatant racism is his only motivation for this...there is no other logical reason.

Like all liberal policies, they do not seek to fix the under performing areas, they seek to wreck the successful areas. You can look at illegal immigration, wealth redistribution, healthcare, urban decay, schools, on and on. Don't fix the bad, tear down the good.

Can't governors have a say in this? It seems that in this case,
as in so many others, a governor exerting authority over his state
is our only line of defense against a subversive and ever-encroaching fed.

San Francisco is fully gentrified. Even middle class whites can’t afford to live there any longer. The “open minded, compassionate, liberal” people there raise holy heck whenever high density, affordable housing is proposed.

Downtown D.C. (any neighborhood within a mile or two of the mall) has become gentrified, but there are still neighborhoods there where there is subsidized housing. Not as many as there used to be.

As soon as he lets Section 8 housing right next to his house and only then can we talk.

BTW...we get to pick his neighbors.

And they will be singled out as the most conservative, GOP registered, rather than the Marin Co. Pacific Heights et al hoods.

“””Many rental managers/owners simply do not take Section 8 applicants.

Pretty soon they won’t have a choice. “””

Couple of years ago I was doing some site work on a top of the line apartment complex in a nice suburb of Minneapolis.. Very nice place. Health club, swimming pool, all the finest of amenities. I noticed a fair number of junky looking cars in the lot so I asked the manager why people would pay top rent yet drive crap cars. He said they were forced to allow a certain number of Section 8’s or they couldn’t get their building permit.

So hard working people who pay for everything have to live with folks who pay nothing yet get all the same benefits.

Screw dat.

This is far from the last thing he will do. He will probably also

#1: Either formally give Guantanamo back to Castro or simply abandon the base and let Castro walk in, then he rents it to the Russians, Chinese, or Iranians/

#2: Pardon all previously convicted felons with sentences served so they can vote.

#3: Pardon all associated with his administration for any crimes they “might” have committed.

#4: Do something very big for gays and Blacks, such as ordering them to be given first priority for all federal programs and services, due to “decades of discrimination.”

#5: Forgive many federal loans where the practical effect will be to erase debts for Blacks.

#6: Order the immediate destruction of 95% of nuc warheads as “a path to peace.”

#7: Pardon all federal felons where there was “disparity in sentencing along racial lines” i.e. free all he black drug dealers.

#8: Give federal money to “classes of people have suffered organized oppression” i.e., give $10,000, $20,000 to every black.

This.... and more.

Somebody in that administration--whether it's O or someone he listens to--is a long term planner. That census was done early in his first term.

That nasty, racist Congresswoman Maxine Waters was in on the plan early on as well. There's a quote of her letting something slip out of her mouth she probably wishes she didn't along the lines of "we've got this unbelievable database".

Does anyone else remember that?
