Former Kansas senator and 1996 Republican nominee Bob Dole endorsed Donald Trump for president on Friday, calling for the GOP to unite around Trump in order to defeat Hillary Clinton, the likely Democratic nominee.
Dole's support gives the GOP presumptive nominee the support of another party elder on a day when other top Republicans announced their opposition. Trump inconspicuously announced the endorsement earlier on Friday at a rally in Omaha, Nebraska, as he ticked off the names of several prominent Republicans who have come around to his candidacy since he became the party's presumptive nominee earlier this week.

Yes Senator Dole was a great patriot, but running him against Clinton was basically saying we give up and surrender a second term to Clinton. It was a big GOPe mistake, but I guess it was all to maintain the status quo.

I hated Clinton. I couldn’t understand how anybody could fall for the scumbag. Felt the same about Obama. Couldn’t believe Americans would ever elect either one. They sold America out and I want to see them pay. Big Time.

Graham, Ryan, Kraut, Kristol must all be funneling money from our tax dollars. If Dole and Cheney are backing Trump, that is because they are not.
Funny how they find it hard to support thier nominee but will support the enemy. Bob knows full well he was the first to start the ball rolling with the GOP loosing streak

He wasn’t great on the ticket in 96. But he did have some great days.
Pleasantly surprised. I consider Bob Dole as being part of the GOPe and so I thought he would never endorse Trump. Good for Bob Dole for doing his part in uniting the party.
Dole resigned from the Senate when he ran for president because he knew the campaign would take most of his time.
That’s an honorable man.
Compare and contrast with Cruz and Rubio who essentially ignored the jobs they are being paid for during their presidential runs (just as Obama did in 2008).
