Someone showed up at a Ted Cruz event in Elkhart, Indiana today with a copy of the Communist Manifesto. According to a reporter for the Texas Tribune, the kid, who looked like he could be a college student, asked Cruz to sign his “economic textbook.”

"That… would be the Communist Manifesto," Cruz says, realizing the prank.

Video of the encounter published by WSBT22 shows Cruz paused and said, “You know what, I’ll sign it as well.” The college kid replied, “Ah, you have a good sense of humor.” Here is the note Cruz added to the book:

After handing the book back, Cruz turned to the press, “There you go and for the record the note I wrote on the Communist Manifesto is ‘Millions have suffered because of this.’ Turning back to the student he added, “And I note this as the son of a Cuban immigrant whose family has seen first hand just exactly what Communism has rendered. Cruz then shook the young man’s hand and thanked him for coming out to the rally.
Kudos to Cruz for not falling for the prank and handling it well. You can be sure that if he hadn’t noticed what this was and signed it with something anodyne like ‘Thanks for your support!’ the left would have been giddy over it.
“How do you tell a communist? Well, it’s someone who reads Marx and Lenin. And how do you tell an anti-Communist? It’s someone who understands Marx and Lenin.” - Ronald Reagan
Friggin’ awesome! Way to go, Ted!
Once a Cruz supporter (documentable), I find the notion that being a ‘wonderful American’ is the sole requisite for being President of our nation.
Proud Trump supporter here, and I’m here to tell you this was a praiseworthy move by Cruz.
Understood. It’s a crap shoot of time, circumstance and events and the condition of the candidate at the time. He gets props for the alertness. He doesn’t deserve to elected because of it.
Also.
It’s either that, or “Rules For Radicals”. Though actually I don’t think she’s really an ideologue for any ideology, unless self-interest and greed are ideologies. She could have gone either way, left or right, when she was just getting started, apparently the left promised the quickest route to power at that time (it would, as promising to redistribute wealth sits well with a lot of people).
So I guess what you’re meaning to say is “Cruz is a wonderful [second choice] American?”
He lies with a straight face about a number of issues. His stance on illegal immigration is really non existent because he really is not against illegal immigration. He runs around using rules to garner delegates because he cannot win voter support. All of this makes him no better than Hillary, and will only ensure a Hillary victory. He should end his campaign immediately for the sake of America and forget his driving desire for power. He shows all of the signs of a petty person who is more willing to wrought destruction out of spite when he realizes he has lost.
Reagan is eminently quotable, he sure puts the lie to those who try to dismiss him as a lightweight. One of my favorites of his, or anyone’s, quotes, is “I paid for this microphone”, said politely but with conviction, which is easy when you know you’re right. There may be other great presidents, but there’ll never be another Reagan.
Millions have been murdered because of this, and millions are still suffering.
Well said.
Nah, this is a propaganda event organized by Cruz. No other way the photo would have been published. A leftist tricked would never have put it up on the net.
No, I don't think that IS the question.
I think the real question is "Why do Cruz supporters obsessively demean those who aren't?"
This has been the scam all along. These “supposed” Trump supporters .. don’t come to FR to “support Trump” .. they come here only to smear and denigrate Cruz and his supporters.
And .. if Trump does manage to win the WH, it will be even worse. I’m about done.
It would have served Bernie Sanders well to have remembered that quote and used it, when Black Lies Matter shoved him off his own microphone and he just let them, like an intimidated dweeb. Of course, his leftist constituency would have excoriated his “racism” if he hadn’t let them shove him around. That how it is, though, when you have pandered to a group of people for so long that you paint yourself into a corner.
Wow and they even had a camera there to take a picture of Ted’s signature and Ted even had a pre-planned and fully canned speech ready to lecture the young man with in front of the camera.
Wow!
If I didn’t know any better I would suspect that this is a typical Cruz shill, and likely paid to give Ted this serendipitous press opportunity otherwise known as a staged photo op. That goes along with his speech about being the son of a Cuban immigrant under the castros and the scourge of communism. The only problem is his dad was with the Communists not against.
I believe Ted has no honor and I doubt this was a legitimate act on his part.
Just like all the other staged stuff he has pulled of late it’s a staged event just like his hiring Carly fiorina to be his vice president for $500,000.
RE: He lies with a straight face about a number of issues. His stance on illegal immigration is really non existent because he really is not against illegal immigration.
If so, why did Jeff Sessions say this:
Jeff Sessions: Without Ted Cruz, Amnesty Would Have Passed In 2013
See here:
RE: He runs around using rules to garner delegates because he cannot win voter support.
I don;t know why this is a knock against him. If those are the rules and he works within the rules and the rules have been made known way in advance, what exactly did he do wrong?
If he broke the rules I can understand, but he did not. Heck even Rush Limbaugh, the conservative people in FR defer to most of the time says that Cruz is not cheating.
If you don’t like the GOP rules, I see the following things you can do:
1) Work to Change the rules ( but do it before the primaries, not after it has already began )
or
2) Form your own party.
But why knock Ted Cruz and call him a cheater when all he’s doing is familiarizing himself with the primary process and working to garner the necessary delegates to win?
RE: He shows all of the signs of a petty person who is more willing to wrought destruction out of spite when he realizes he has lost.
Listen, if you are going to call him petty for fighting to win, then I have to disagree with you. The main rule is this -— YOU HAVE TO GARNER 1,237 DELEGATES TO WIN THE NOMINATION. If you don’t it goes to the convention floor and if you win in the first ballot, you are the nominee. If you still do not win, it goes to subsequent ballots until a final nominee is chosen.
If Trump wins 1,237, heck, I’ll support him over Hillary but not until. In the meantime, all these talk about Cruz cheating because he is not giving up at this time is BUNK.
The GOP has been doing this since the time of Abe Lincoln ( who was not the first choice during his time. It was William Seward ).
So, all of your reasons are actually NOT GOOD ONES at all.
No, I am a Cruz supporter.
RE: If I didnt know any better I would suspect that this is a typical Cruz shill, and likely paid to give Ted this serendipitous press opportunity
Why not produce good evidence of that and then I’ll believe you. In the meantime, I will file the above together with the National Enquirer story that Cruz had five mistresses and that his father actually conspired with Lee Harvey Oswald to murder JFK.
