US unions plan attack on Donald Trump in attempt to derail presidential bid

Concerned labor group leaders are organizing ad campaigns and phone banks as Trump’s populist message on trade and jobs draws in union voters

The prospect of a Donald Trump nomination has labor leaders scrambling to hold the line as the Republican frontrunner’s appeal to disaffected working-class voters threatens to upset the traditional political calculus.

The majority of America’s almost 15 million unionized workers can be usually be relied upon to back the Democratic candidate in a presidential year, but leaders are concerned by Trump’s populist message on trade and jobs – and his insistence that union workers are just one of many groups on a long list of those he claims “love” him.

Union thug bosses want the illegals here and plan to unionize millions. That is the end game.

As per Wikipedia:

In March 2013, Trumka confirmed that organized labor would make an effort to work more closely with groups trying to aid immigrant workers, as the national debate on minimum wage and fair employment in the restaurant industry heated up.[37]

Current workers would be very unwise to back Trumpka and his minions—Trumpka is part of the elite status quo-cheap labor express.

“Trump isn’t interested in solving the problems he yells and swears about. He delivers punch lines, but there’s nothing funny about them.”

That’s pretty weak there, Dickie.

Trumka’s a red so you know he wants Hillary or Bernie, or both.

SEIU has been red-led for many decades. Hillary, Bernie or both.

The American worker, sold out by Big Unions, esp. Trumka selling out his own United Mine Workers.

Some union members in the coal belts from W. Va to Wyoming, know who their real enemies are: Obama, EPA, Hillary, Trumka, Sanders and the Democrat Party.

Let’s hope they vote their conscience this time and leave their “lockstep mentality” in the trash can.

The union bosses oppose Trump. The members support Trump. Big difference.

They know he is going to cream Hillary Clinton in the general, so this is all they’ve got. She blew her wad just trying to keep Bernie from taking the nomination, and the jury is still out on whether or not she succeeded.

Mr Trump has always had cordial relations with Unions — who have built his buildings after all.

Rank and File private sector unions are not in the thrall of the liberals — that would be government employees.
Our employees.

Oregon is a big SEIU state....we’ll see how many vote for Trump on May 17th....but we are a closed Primary...so probably not that many changed their registration.

Quite a bit of truth to this. I am a pipefitter. My union is going to publicly endorse Hillary for sure (but many of the members will not).

I know IBEW guys, plumbers, welders, teamsters, LEOs, and FD Union members who are ALL Trump. I imagine many auto-workers and machinists will also vote Trump.

The unions left us blue-collar types when they started supporting NAFTA and supporting illegals over their own members (also one reason why many of us never supported the R’s after Reagan, the R’s also supported that platform, but many like me had hope our unions would help us... they did NOT)

The laborers union here will go Bernie (as will it’s members).

Teachers and others who make a paycheck where there is gub’mint security and no competition will go Hillary though, she represents the status quo, and they do NOT want their apple cart overturned (the exception will be Police and FD Union members who are out-raged over BLM).

By the way, I am in Illinois.

As a by-note; most union folks I talk to do NOT see Trump as the enemy, like they did Romney (or any R since Reagan). He has not fought with unions nor made them out to be the turd in the punch bowl when it comes to their globalist ideas. Instead, he talks about helping us with jobs, sealing the borders, and Making America Great Again.

Union members cannot argue with that message, nor Trump’s history with us. He has employed many many union folks over the years.

You typify what I’ve always seen to be the reality:

The union bosses can make all the big talk they want down at the hall, but most all of the rank are going to vote their OWN minds, anyway.

Garbage. Several large police, firefighter, & other unions have already endorsed Trump publicly.

Of course there are union boss scumbags in high places who oppose him, nonetheless. But the real story is that many unions and even their leadership are rallying to support Trump.

Trump is a grab bag of something for everyone; he’s enough of a free market capitalist to appeal as such, and enough of a socialist(don’t kid yourself) to appeal as such also....chameleon-like, yes, but who gives a crap anymore. He’ll flip over the entire D.C. applecart while protecting our borders and that’s enough for me to boost his flawed butt. Sue me.

In most labor unions, the rank and file is much less committed to the Democratic Party than their leadership, and for good reason. What has the Democratic Party offered most workers lately? Underselling their jobs with illegal immigrant labor and with outsourcing, that’s what. The leaders of labor unions have to follow the Democratic party line on immigration even though it hurts the people they’re supposed to represent.
