Carly Fiorina Is on Ted Cruz Shortlist for VP Pick

Ted Cruz's presidential campaign has a short list of potential vice presidential picks that includes former rival Carly Fiorina, campaign aides announced Monday.

Cruz's campaign manager tweeted that they "have narrowed our VP candidates to a short list and are going thru the normal processes associated with picking a running mate." A top aide to Fiorina confirmed to NBC News that the former Hewlett-Packard CEO who endorsed Cruz earlier this year was on the list.

The vice presidential candidate selection process has typically been a secretive one in modern presidential politics. Candidates generally shy away from talking publicly about the vetting until they secure their parties' nominations.

Cruz currently trails frontrunner Donald Trump by almost 300 delegates.

John Kasich's campaign confirmed to NBC News they also are vetting potential vice presidential picks. But chief strategist John Weaver told NBC News, "We are conducting a deliberative process and not in public."

Where is that photoshopped picture of the buxom Fiorina coddling her little boy Teddy Cruz to her side? It is pure classic, if someone still has it.

The Cruz-Kasich Anschluss and the Fiorina VP consideration are planted news stories to distract the public from what will happen tomorrow. Trump is poised to give them both a big shellacking and increase the distance from them.

Cruz is making his last stand in Indiana and if he loses there, another state will become the last stand. Tomorrow the delegate lead will grow to 400 and Trump will have won 26 states--more than half with more to come.

If Cruz had any integrity and a desire to unify the party, he would have left the race a long time ago. He is working with the GOPe to stop Trump and then he will be bought off as the GOPe selects its candidate. Kasich may be the one.

Ted Cruz will probably pick Fiorina as his running mate on Wednesday, to take some media focus off his failings at the voting booths tomorrow.

I think voters will recognize it for the obvious stunt it is.

Carly got rich at HP by inventing outsourcing.
I know hundreds of HP employees who were FORCED to train their replacements.
Cruz has now put his Senate Seat in serious jeopardy.
His Presidency future is now officially dead.

Thus is nothing more than the Cruz people looking for something to get coverage on. Nothing to get excited about.

We need to save our ammunition for the big issues.

By the way, a bit off-topic but related: Since companies that lust after H1B cheap labor are always using the excuse that they need those visas because they just can't find enough home-grown talent, what about all of those IT workers that Disney laid off? I presume (sarcastically) that those companies have already snatched up all of those experienced, qualified folks from Disney, correct?

The fact that they haven't, while at the same time continuing to lobby for more H1B visas puts the lie to their claims. I'm sick of companies that are willing to sell the country down the river for a buck, and the politicians who enable them.

That’s nice. Too bad Cruz won’t be picking the VP this year.

So, then, what is Kasich going to get? He has been salivating for the VP slot.

What would Fiorina bring, other than being a female on the ticket?

Since Carly Fiorina got a whopping 1-2% in most primaries and polls, this will be a big help for Ted. Why not go even further and pick Lindsey Graham, who was polling at less than 1% while he’s at it?

Cruz is trying to force Trump to make the election about women, to help Hillary.

Seems to work for Hillary.

I bet Marco Rubio is on that list too.
