On April 20, the Oklahoma Senate voted 37-9 to pass legislation recognizing that the Second Amendment is a sufficient open carry permit.
The legislation, HB 3098, had already passed in the House by a vote of 73-15.
According to News 9, the Senate passed the bill via a procedural move that forces the bill into conference committee for one final look before it heads to Governor Mary Fallin (R). If changes are made to the bill while in committee, it will be brought back to the Floor for another vote.
The decision to return to committee came after some senators voiced concerns about how police would be able to tell whether a person open carrying is a felon or is mentally competent to carry a gun. But it is key to remember that open carry is already legal in Oklahomaso the sight of people with handguns on their hips would not be a new one resulting from HB 3098.

Dang! I wish us Texicans had done that.
I wish all states would do it. I mean how hard is it to understand? Purty dang hard I guess.
We are on our way to Constitutional open carry. Just a matter of time. I haven’t seen any open carry in the urban areas but I do know that it is normal in rural areas.
How will the armed citizen know if the LEO approaching them has mental issues? How did we ever get to the assumption that government employees are immune to the stresses that affect us mere mortals?
Well for that matter, how can we tell if any particular LEO is a felon or a nut bag? They do exist, and when we encounter one we have a helluva lot less options available to us, than when a LEO encounters one. Freedom means having to deal with such occasional problems. Prisons mean not having to deal with them. Liberals can't tell the difference, and don't want to.
We are on our way to Constitutional open carry.
= = =
And I would think concealed would be Constitutional, also.
Some Original Patriot cannot keep his flintlock pistol under his coat to keep the rain off if it ????
About ‘nuts’ with guns — —
One day I visited a shooting range, which had a highway passing by close on the firing line side.
Govt inspectors had asked the range folks during the permit process (I know, really not needed), what happens if a shooter turns and starts shooting at cars [eek!]?
Range guys said, “We would shoot him”.
Nut goes bad ... shoot him.
Two words: (names) Erek Balentine...
This IS the Law of the land. States do not have the right to impugn Constitutional Rights.
LOL! The hills are alive with the sound of Mac-11’s.
That is HILARIOUS!!
The Indians have learned from their history but us cowboys just haven't figured it out yet.
I have been practically shouting this from the rooftops for decades now. WHAT part of “...SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED.” do people not comprehend???
*laugh!*
Thanks for that. :)
Now saved for future guffaws and to annoy Liberals on an as-needed basis. *grin*
Very well stated. Plus it is perhaps helpful to remember the R. A. Heinlein quote:
“an armed society is a polite society.”
I’ve been reading a lot of Louis L’Amour lately, and lawmen did have to deal with armed criminals and it can be done.... very politely!
No one who cannot be trusted to carry a weapon should be running around loose.
As in senators?
*snort!* That would rule out quite a few LEOs I can think about, mate.
