(CNSNews.com) - Republican Donald Trump, appearing on Thursday's "Today" show, said transgenders should be allowed to "use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate."
"So if Caitlyn Jenner were to walk into Trump Tower and want to use the bathroom, you would be fine with her using any bathroom she chooses?" host Matt Lauer asked Trump.
"That is correct," Trump said.
Asked for his view on the North Carolina bathroom controversy, Trump said the state has "paid a big price" for requiring transgenders to use the restroom that corresponds with their biological sex.
"Leave it the way it is," he said.
"One of the best answers I heard was from a commentator yesterday, saying 'Leave it the way it is right now.' There have been very few problems. Leave it the way it is. North Carolina, what they're going through with all of the business that's leaving and all of the strife, and that's on both sides -- you leave it the way it is.
"There have been very few complaints the way it is. People go, they use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate. There has been so little trouble. And the problem with what happened in North Carolina is the strife, and the -- the economic punishment that they're taking."

Trump said he doesn't know if he has any transgender people working for him. "I probably do, I really don't know."
Trump noted that there's a "big move to create new bathrooms" for transgenders.
"First of all, I think that would be discriminatory in a certain way. It would be unbelievably expensive for businesses and for the country. Leave it the way it is."
I guess we have to decide for ourselves if we think he will actually do it. I don’t believe it will get built, but that’s just me.
Well, not me, specifically. As I said, I was not all-in for Trump, like some here. I preferred the hated Ted Cruz.

You can't just dress like a woman - that is being a transvestite - you have to get hormone treatment and a psyche evaluation showing you "changed" sexes to be considered a transsexual. I think it should be left up to the individual private business to set its own bathroom policy.
I agree. Or something similar on a permanent basis inside any facility.
Same with locker rooms. Separate lockable stalls for dressing and undressing.
End the idea of showers unless the stalls have individual showers.

I don’t agree with Trump either. He needs to reflect on exactly how this came across.
I don’t think Trump is advocating for special rights formally. Sounds like he’s saying leave things the way they are, which is a bit lame. Sounds like he’s saying when a State makes explicit laws to forbid the restroom crossover, it could be considered discrimination. It very well could be. Who knows? However, it’s still up to each state to figure that out.
He should say it’s a state’s rights issue and each state can choose how they will. He has to respect the law whether he likes it or not.
The problem is, who’s going to check? This is a damned if you do, damned if you don’t, made up issue that did not, or barely, exist 30 years ago. It is made to create tension amongst people and divide and destroy a culture.

Why should a private entity spend its own money to accommodate perverts? Why should a government waste the taxpayers' money to accommodate perverts?
I went back to that post... I answered the subject of Trump being a liberal... yes, he is in many areas... do I agree with him? nope.. do I like his fight and the fact he is not afraid of the media? Yep!
You’re correct. All those who profess hate for big govt apparently have no problem with big govt policing public restroom policies.
This, to me, is a State’s rights issue. Trump should leave it at that.
A business should do it to avoid lawsuits.
A government facility should do it to protect privacy.
Stop and think. For years, many years, transgenders have been using the bathroom they feel is appropriate.
How often does any organization, company, office require a physical before using the restrooms.
Women or men who look like women use the Women’s bathroom, men or women who look like men use the Men’s bathroom.
Time for this country to get a grip. Unless you think everyone should pass through a scanner to use a public restroom. My guess is that you have shared a public restroom with many transgender people in your life time, totally unaware.
Wait. So, a city council passing an ordinance is a private business? That’s what the state law was passed to overturn, you know.
This could have all been avoided had the SJWs on the city council minded their own business.

The issue with the law is not “telling businesses what they can do with their bathrooms” but what police can do about men exposing themselves and masturbating in front of women in bathrooms. Check the news, this has already happened and the police could do nothing about it because of the suspect’s “gender” identity claims.
