Sen. Ted Cruz for the first time said he believes the Republican Party is headed to a contested convention.
Cruz had previously called a contested convention likely and that it seemed the party was heading in that direction. But after a disappointing third-place loss in New York Tuesday, the Texas Republican is no longer saying he plans to beat front-runner Donald Trump at the ballot box.
"We are headed to a contested convention, Cruz said in an interview with Philadelphia talk-radio personality Chris Stigall this morning. At this point, nobody is getting 1,237. Donald is going to talk all the time about other folks not getting to 1,237; hes not getting there either. None of us are getting to 1,237.
And hes right about one thing. After the New York primary, it is now mathematically impossible for Cruz to clinch the Republican nomination using bound or pledged delegates before the July convention in Cleveland.

In other words, you spout what you wish whether supported by evidence or not.
Fine.
I love how everyone talks about Cruz, but nobody ever mentions that Kasich should drop.”
Kasich is too thick in the head to even know to drop out.
I am for Cruz or Trump, but I have no personal investment in either man. But Truman is being disingenuous about Colorado and Wyoming. He chose not to play on ground he could not win because he had not invested his time and money into getting his people into those rooms. For the same reason he chose to debate Cruz one on one. Trump is an old fashioned stem-winder orator who knows how to rouse the crown. Not that that is a bad thing. Huey Long was that type, too. The difference is that Huey was also someone who excelled at thrust and cut debate. Trump excels only at insult.
And that would be 6 or 7 times the vote that Teddy got.
Where did cruz come in NH too?
OH, VA, FL are must wins. He came third in all.
He could not win a county in VA, FL and yet we are told that cruz who has only won 3 states outside his own where people actually vote is the best person to go against Clinton, Please!!!
The only place Ted is headed is back to his senate seat.
“Obama had an organization in place in all 50 states”
He still has them there!
Amen. Cruz is not liked. His appeal is limited to talk show hosts. The rest of America sees him as a snake handling prude. Most Americans are fed up and frustrated. They want the Trump to drive the bulldozer to DC and raze the establishment.
Would love to be able to give Ted the benefit of assuming that he is really, really, really, truly an “outsider”. However, I am convinced he is part of the GOPe team, and at this late stage he and them will be doing everything in their power to see to it Hillary becomes President. That way Ted, along with McConnell and the rest of the professional Republican politicians, keep the gravy flowing. They all know, including honest Ted, that with Trump as President their money dries up. And, that is something none of them can abide.
Ignore the obvious. It’s what too many Cruz supporters do.

He also lost the entire south and most other states that had actual elections.
He sure did. Thanks to crossover votes from democrats and a field of 8 candidates.
It is still a faction. And unless he wins on the first ballot, he may find it is smaller than he thinks.
I dont think his quotes today are going to help him in the daily freerepublic caucus.
The rest of America is as likely to vote for Hillary.
Thank you.
No one expected Ted Cruz under 20% in 22 of the 27 CDs and in second place in just 2 of the 27 CDs.
No one expected Trump at 60%.
Cruz will have 0 path to the nomination on the first ballot after PA next week. He should be a statesman and drop out. But he won't. He'll be a pathetic GOP-e shill like useless Kasich.
After demanding Kasich drop out since he is mathematically incapable of winning, Rafael goes full hypocrite.
