House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosis husband bought up to a quarter million dollars of stock in a now financially troubled green energy company just weeks before it announced a major 2014 acquisition that sent stock prices soaring, public records show.
SunEdison told regulators last week that it is eyeing bankruptcy under the weight of $11.7 million in debt. But in late 2014, investors were bullish on the company, which manufactures and operates solar and wind power facilities.
Its 2014 purchase of wind energy company First Wind further bolstered the reputation of the company, wrote one market-watcher at the time. Perhaps unsurprisingly, SunEdisons stock soared an astounding 29% on news of this acquisition alone.
Pelosis husband, Paul Pelosi, had invested just in time. He bought between $100,000 and $250,000 in SunEdison stock on Oct. 24, 2014, according to congressional financial disclosures. The company announced its First Wind acquisition on Nov. 17.
Pelosis office did not respond to questions about the timing of the purchase and whether she or her husband had any advance knowledge of the deal

And yet there are a lot of rubes in this country — who vote — who think that she’s for the little guy. The whole system is corrupt to the core. If Jefferson were alive today, he’d say its time for a little revolution.
Nancy, she lay low.

Are members of Congress still exempt from insider trading laws?
What a coincidence!
Tennis court, Bocci ball court, helipad.
Her winery has ZERO union employees.
Well great. Looks like Pelosi and her husband have put their money where there mouth is.
I wonder how much they stand to lose with this clean energy BS?
Unfortunately for the US, we already know we have lost BILLIONS of dollars thanks to Obama’s throwing that much away in Solyndra type scams and scandals.
>SunEdison is now eyeing bankruptcy, but Paul Pelosi invested right before a 2014 stock rally
Must have been tutored by Cankles herself /s
Yep, people are always ‘surprised’; regardless that those in govt will stuff their, and buddies, pockets using the taxpayer: railroads up to the highway system, canals, mining, war, etc.
The *only* thing I’m impressed about it wasn’t SHE doing the insider-trading; just another ‘exemption’ of the elite vs. the masses
some people are just lucky like that
They, too, hire ZERO union employees.
A champion of the poor, a burger and fries at her place costs $23.
Would that be ‘insider trading’ and wouldn’t that be illegal or is it ok because she’s a part of government and doesn’t answer to anyone?
As far back as when I was in high school I used to pay attention to the net worth of many members in congress. It always grew year after year. I always wondered how they made so much cash. They were crooked then.
Rules for thee but not for me. It is great to be royalty.
And yet none of these assets, or her family’s (husband, son, etc.) Wall Street trading is ever discussed or investigated by the corrupt MSM? Now, why is that?
Always amazes me how greedy people are never happy...they stay greedy forever and ever. Legal or illegal.
Yep.
So none of this matters. It's all just noise the little people make. If it gets too loud, Nancy will just have the window closed and new chilled salad forks brought out, while the string quartet plays slightly louder.
In Buddhism they're called hungry ghosts, and they have a hell realm all their own.
She expects to get a very healthy return on her investment.
The SunEdison insider trading deal is chump change compared to rest of the money Pelosi has grafted to her husbands business interests over the years.
However, as is typical of Democrats , there is no amount of money to small to steal.
Congress explicitly exempts themselves from insider trader laws. They can trade on privileged information at will and don’t even have to hide it. It’s legal for them, illegal for everybody else.
Ain’t Crony-Fascism grand?
