For years, California politicians and educators who are sometimes the same have talked about the achievement gap that separates poor and English-learner students from more advantaged classmates.

When my cousin lived in Hawaii, all the haolies sent their kids to private school bc the publics taught ‘pidgin English.’ LA will be like that if it’s not already. Teachers’ unions will ensure it, too.
Discontinue every Spanish language television and radio broadcast in California.
That would be a start.
Many years ago we had a vote on “English Only” here in California. At the time I had a VERY conservative roommate. I was surprised when he said he was opposed to English only. Then he explained; “If these people learn English they will be able to compete with me for jobs. I don’t want that.”
The English Only Proposition failed.
I thought the proposition for English only (ending “bilingual education”) passed, but was overturned by a judge; at the time I remember libs asking Mexicans why they supported an end to bilingual education, and their (pleasantly surprising) answer was that they wanted their children to have better jobs than they had.
So the achievement gap is because there are advantaged kids. We must correct this and eliminate the advantaged kids. /s Reading is the #1 weapon that schools can use to correctly educate our children.
Send your kids to public school and they acquire a Mexican accent.
You are right.
Every effort to bring “equality” only succeeds in dragging the rest of society down to the lowest common denominator.
Thanks to the dumbing-down necessary to create false equality America now has the highest number of college degree holding dolts and incompetents the world has ever seen.
FTA “...implies that he (Governor Brown) doesnt want to be held accountable for its results.” What a surprise! NOT. Like most Democrat, Socialist, Liberal, Commie creepozoids, it is their ‘intentions’ that are most important, to them. Results? We don’t need (to obtain) any results! We tried, so we are good people.
Hmmm....I’m having to look it up. I think it was Prop 63 in 1986. If so, you are right. It passed. It was then overturned by the Ninth Circuit, but the Supreme Court then overturned the Ninth.
All I know for sure is that everything I get from the government here comes in a large variety of languages. I wonder if it could pass again today.
Press “1” to continue in English.
Every rich white coastal liberal will lament this situation and demand the government fix the “gap” as they drop off their kid of at a private, and expensive, school.
Here is a bigger one you can read:

Demand less.
Get less.
One of N rules (where N is a large number) progressives are incapable of understanding.
Most of them are not markedly disadvantaged as far as I can tell. They have new, brand name clothes. They have expensive smart phones and other iToys. They are provided free breakfast and lunch (most of them reject it; they get better food at home or buy chips from the student store.) They sometimes pull out wads of cash right in front of me. They are on the football team, the soccer team, they go on field trips. Their parents pick them up and drop them off in shiny, massive SUVs.
It's the culture. I'm sorry, but the majority of Central American culture (or at least the version of it that has developed in LA is simply: Take it Easy. A joke is better than a question. Never do anything if you can avoid it. They hate mental and physical exertion (unless it's a sport) more than just about anything. If it's hard, ey, don't do it. Let someone else do it.
South Americans, from what I can tell, are totally different, but Central? Man, if they get to school on time it's an accomplishment. And they need to take a day off at least once every two weeks because, man, school is tiring! Especially if you're overweight. Carrying all those books! They don't even want to open their backpacks. They carry them in, hang them on the chair, sit down, take out their phones, and seem surprised when I make them take off their hat, put the phone away, open the backpack and take out their notebook.
They are surprised every single time. We have been going through this every day since last August. They still look surprised when I tell them we are going to read and write today in English class. What they want is to just see the movie. Let's just watch the movie, Miss. Let's just eat chips and watch the movie. While I play on my phone.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why we have an achievement gap. Now, is every single student like this? No. I have one Honors class where they apparently found the 10% of students who will work hard and the 20% who will at least cooperate, and they put them together, and that class is the joy of my day. But the rest? Oy.
oh yeah, and genes. #whitegenesmatter
Much better, thanks!
Went to Red Lobster the other night, yeah yeah I know but it was Lobsterfest lol, and the waitress seated us across from 2 couples. I’m a people watcher so I did. When we left I told hubby......I just can’t figure out why decent looking women are so drawn to that Mexican banger look.
I see them everywhere together. All the guys look and dress the same and that’s exactly what it is. The Mexican banger look.
