Gabriel Sherman writes that Megyn Kelly may have gone rogue by meeting privately with Donald Trump without Roger Ailes blessing.
Fox executives, caught off guard by Kellys clandestine outreach, released a statement suggesting this was all according to plan: Ailes had spoken to Trump a few times over the past three months, it noted, implying that he had helped her get the meeting. Later that night, Kelly confirmed on her show that she and Trump discussed the possibility of an interview. She made no mention of Ailes. The meeting was at my request, Kelly said.
If Kelly did indeed go rogue on the Trump meeting, it says a lot about her relationship with her employer and about her employers relationship with the GOP front-runner. Ever since she tangled with Trump in front of the 24 million viewers watching the debut GOP debate last summer a performance that transformed her in the eyes of many into a fearless interviewer and feminist symbol Kelly has become Ailess biggest star, and biggest management headache. Meanwhile, Trumps attacks on Fox have badly damaged its credibility with its core right-wing audience. (A February poll reported that Foxs standing with Republicans had plummeted by 50 percent since the beginning of the year.)
Trump has engaged in an on-again-off-again feud with the network since September, refusing to appear one-on-one with Kelly for eight months, so a Kelly-Trump interview would undoubtedly draw big ratings. Presumably, Kelly went off on her own because she wants to claim credit for the booking. She did it to prove she doesnt need Ailes to make things happen for her, a high-level source said. Or perhaps she is taking a page from Trump himself and operating as if her own brand were bigger than Foxs.

Interesting
Why is there so much speculation around here and it’s always in trumps favor.
Hmmmmm
Women hold grudges forever
Megyn may really go after him the next time
She its entitle now you know
Trump probably has forget by now
Men to for give and forget
Women never forget
Heard Trump had to call in a maid after the meeting....to wipe up Megan's drool.
Sounds like your speculating about speculation to me.
She’s getting way too big for her thong!
For a while I've suspected her feud with Trump was solely to increase her "stock". Before her war with Donald, she was just another face in the Fox stable, but since, she's mentioned regularly. She hasn't improved as a journalist, but she's referred to as if she's a female Murrow or Cronkite. A BIG FAT contract, not necessarily with Fox, will be her payoff.
Does anybody have any actual numbers to indicate that FOX News audience has increased or decreased since the first debate? I found myself spending more time watching Fox Business News and much less Fox News since then, but a survey of 1 doesn’t always produce meaningful statistics.
I wish Mr. Trump would not give her the sought-after attention she needs to keep her high profile.
No numbers, but now you have a survey of 2. I watch Varney in the morning and catch Kennedy in the evening. Varney is a smart interviewer and has a great back-up team commenting on stocks, interest rates, etc. I like Charles Payne as his backup. Kennedy is just plain crazy! She just says whatever comes to mind, sometimes outrageous.
He should not go back unless he win the nomination

Could be because Trump’s polls are going up while others are falling, he’s leading in delegates, he’s going to clean up in the Northeast primaries, and there’s never been a candidate who has shaken things up like him.
There ya go with more speculating. Its EVERYWHERE

Maybe she will become Trump’s press secretary. That would be something.
“Was it corruption in South Carolina where 33% of the vote yielded 100% of the delegates. NO. It was the rules in that state.”
Me too! Just don’t know how Lou Dobbs keeps his job with his objective reporting, ditto for Stuart Varney. FNC is dead to me with the possible exception of Judge Jeanine!
