Trump campaign manager will not be prosecuted, sources say
Politico ^

A Florida prosecutor has decided not to prosecute Donald Trump’s campaign manager for battery after a March run-in with former Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields, sources with knowledge of the situation told POLITICO.

The decision not to press charges against Corey Lewandowski is scheduled to be announced on Thursday afternoon by Palm Beach County State Attorney David Aronberg.

Fields may still pursue a defamation case against Lewandowski, a source said.

Fields filed a police report last month after Lewandowski grabbed her by the arm and moved her out of Trump’s way following a press conference at Trump National Gold Club in Jupiter. She said he left bruises on her arm. Police later charged Lewandowski with simple battery, releasing video from surveillance cameras that shows Lewandowski reaching for and grabbing Fields.

Aronberg would not comment, but in a POLITICO interview last week, he pointed out that Jupiter police had a low “probable cause” standard to cite Lewandowski for battery. But the responsibility for moving forward with a full-blown prosecution rested with Aronberg’s office, which had to consider whether a crime occurred and whether they believed a jury of Floridians would prosecute.

“We have a higher standard to go forward with a prosecution,” he said.

It was obvious this junk case would never be filed. But the press, in their zeal to hurt Trump, falsely reported over and over that “charges had been filed” although any reporter with any familiarity with the criminal justice system KNOWS that the police have no power to make a formal charging decision—that power, in all 50 states and in the federal system, is vested solely with the prosecuting agency except in the very limited case of simple traffic infractions and the like. It was a smear. And even a very pro-Hillary democrat prosecutor was honest enough to boot this nonsense out the door. Good for him and shame on the mob that tried to turn a touch on the arm into a capital case.

There should be or he had a time to come in to give his prints and mugshot. Looks like that time won’t be needed. There is no dispute he was arrested as the police plainly stated.

He’s become a deranged lunatic.

You probably haven't noticed that Rush drove off the same cliff, he just doesn’t shout the same way as Levin.

Awwwhhh Commmmeeeee onnnnnn.

I am a life long listener of Rush and many years with Levin but I had to turn the sound of on Rush today, it will be hard for either one of them to get me back as an avid listener. Same with Beck I used to like most of his stuff, not so much the radio show but loved him on FOX.

He was ‘arrested’ by some technical obscure definition, but they never walked him to the police station, put handcuffs on him, or took a mugshot.

He wasn’t arrested under the normal meaning of the word.

It was a POS case from the git go.

She would have folded like one of Jimmy Carter’s cheap suits on cross, especially with the inconsistency of her statements re; the entire matter and also her history.

Famous F. Lee Bailey (back when he was Ok) line after the State had spend the morning presenting in main prosecution witness:

(State’s Attorney) “So, Lee, what are you having for lunch?”

(Bailey) “Your star witness!”

Well, I suppose that depends on what is meant by "arrested."

Lewandowski appeared Tuesday morning at the Jupiter Police Department at the Department's request, police and Trump campaign officials said. Trump's campaign denied that Lewandowski was arrested. "Mr. Lewandowski was issued a Notice to Appear and given a court date. He was not arrested," the campaign said in an unsigned statement.

But a spokesperson for the Jupiter Police Department told TIME that there's no difference. "A notice to appear is an arrest," said Adam Brown, the spokesman. "Mr. Lewandowski was released with a Notice to Appear in court."

A traffic infraction, ticket, is a summons to court - a notice to appear. Is one arrested when one gets a ticket? You will get arrested (in the common and ordinary use of that word) if you don't sign the ticket!

Exactly. He turned himself in otherwise if he didn’t they likely would have issued a warrant to arrest him.

Aronbergis up for reelection this year, and I think he realized that Palm Beach County wasn’t going for this sort of thing. He’s still a slime for letting it get this far.

So we’re clear here. An accused can turn himself in without having the police issue a warrant for their arrest. They were gracious enough to allow that to occur. I fully assume from the issue that had he not turned himself in they would have issued a warrant and went to arrest him.

"I predict that Mark Levin is going to be furious, and will yell at his audience for a week straight over this."

How would anyone be able to tell the difference from his regular screeching?

(Perhaps that was your point.)

According to this video Lewandowski was not arrested. He was postally mailed a notice to appear, but was not fingerprinted, mug shotted or anything else. It was all misreporting.

Now she can get on with finding the real grabber.

Likely the Secret Service man, but she won't pursue it as she was in the wrong trying to accost Trump as she did.

the real story here is, that Ted Cruz was not beyond using a woman
as a pawn
to discredit his opponent. Just as he was not beyond
objectifying a woman
to win a primary

And Megyn Kelly was not beyond using a woman
as a pawn
to further her personal career by attempting to discredit a respectable candidate for the sake of ratings

” Trump campaign officials said. Trump’s campaign denied that Lewandowski was arrested. “Mr. Lewandowski was issued a Notice to Appear and given a court date. He was not arrested,””

With all due respect to Trump’s campaign there is a difference between being arrested and then afterwards being issued a notice to appear. When he comes in the police tell him he is being arrested and being charged because they have probable cause. He would be given his Miranda warning. After processing they give him his notice to appear.
