Path to certain failure: NeverTrump + NeverCruz = NeverWin = LostSCOTUS = LostFreedom = LostNation

Posted on 04/13/2016 2:36:02 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

Captain obvious here again, but NeverTrump/NeverCruz is not the way. We all have our favorites, but don't lose sight of the mission.

The mission on FR is to secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our POSTERITY!!

It's a lot bigger than you or me or our personal opinions or egos. It's about the very survival of our nation and the promise of freedom for future generations.

Reagan said that freedom is never more than one generation from extinction and he was 100% correct.

President Clinton or President Sanders means the end of freedom in America.

Do not let freedom expire on our watch!!

Free Republic will support our Republican nominee whoever he is against the godless Marxist/socialist Democrats in November!!

Kasich was on CBS news last night. I got the impression he is being positioned as the consensus candidate from a brokered convention or a negotiated VP position.

I knew in april of 2015 that Cruz was not as ‘likeable’

But man he has a TON of fight to put the catheter on to fight for the purse in the Senate and make it this far.

That is worth something. Feel the same way about Carly, Carson and Walker and Perry and Jindal.

[[Would be sorta like a MLB team with less runs not playing the ninth inning.]]

Wel that would certainly be the fair hting to do- an if the rules of MLB were that one team had to get 10 runs in order to win, otherwise it goes to extra innings until one does get to the goal- and it came down to, let’s say, the 5’th inning, and one team had 2 points, and the other team had 4 point,s the only sportsman-like thing to do would be for the team that is behind to drop out so that the rest of the contest doesn’t need to be played out

I have not voted for a presidential candidate in a general election since 1984. A year ago, I was quite hopeful that in 2016 I might have the opportunity to do so again.

At this point, it seems a very remote hope indeed.

Well, Cruz is in a helluva lot worse shape. He has no path whatsoever. He’s in the same ballgame as Kasich, Carson, Rubio, Bush, Fiorina, Walker, Paul, et al, who all dropped out (or should have—Kasich). When you’re an ANTI-ESTABLISHMENT candidate and you’ve lost a primary battle—per the voters—to the only other ANTI-ESTABLISHMENT candidate in the race or have become mathematically unviable to the point that continuing risks handing the nomination over to an ESTABLISHMENT LOSER and or risks destroying your party and your country, then the honorable thing to do would be to concede, congratulate and unite behind the frontrunner and ensure that he gets the delegates and the nomination and unites the party to defeat the godless socialists in November.

Remember why we’re doing this?

I agree Trump will roll in the NE. Whats kept Cruz in the race is his ground game. Trump needs to step up his game and be more prepared for Hillary. This ain’t bean bag. Or bottled water.

Um. No.

1237 is a MAJORITY of delegates.
That rule has been in place since the beginning of the GOP.
It needs to stand. We are not nominating by plurality, but by majority.

RE: #74

Fraud is not “politics”, or “organization”, or a “long game”. It’s fraud. This is not persuasion, either. It is moral theft.

It isn’t to be excused, or brushed off, with “Silly you for not committing fraud right back.”

“It is a essentially a tie once Cruz ‘steals’ the unbound and Rubio delegates.”

More correct as I view it by his and his master’s (the establishment) actions!

Jim Robinson said: "Because he [Cruz] has no path to winning honorably via we the voters."

Don't we all wish that the situation was that simple.

Unfortunately, the majority of Republicans have shown multiple times recently that they can select a nominee who is unable to win in the general election.

It could very well be that a better approach to this election is to identify that Republican candidate who is least objectionable to the Republicans in order to garner the majority of independents.

The consequences to the makeup of the Supreme Court of a Democrat success in November are almost unimaginable. If someone could create a list of Republicans who WOULD win in November, I would gladly support one of them over Trump, Cruz, or Kasich if I knew none of those three could win.

Actually, the bottom line is the GOP establishment will never let Cruz win at the convention. He has no shot at winning by the vote and no shot at winning at a convention controlled by the establishment. There is no reason for him to hang in there.

Lincoln won the Republican Convention after several votes. There were no primaries during the time of Lincoln. The first “primary” didn’t occur until 1912.

IMHO it is the Republican Party that is tearing things apart. They would be pleased with Hillary as President over Trump and somewhat over Cruz. I am at war with the establishment, the croney capitalism and the crooked status quo in Washington.

[[or a negotiated VP position.]]

I seriously doubt he wil lbe the candidate- the peopel woudl go mental if the GOP elected him as nominee and republicans woudl be booted out of office midterm elections for betraying the party this way-

[[or a negotiated VP position.]]

Most likely scenario- Trump and he probably made deal to have him remain in to take delegates from Ted- so that donald can claim majority delegates in the end regardless of how close he gets to 1270- then kasich will be given VP position IF donald feels it can benefit his presidency run against she who’s name dare not be mentioned

OK. I will do my part and dial it back a bit and not let some of the Trumpbot posters who I think are jackasses know this is how I feel about them. I've started by at least saying something nice about Trump's family.
