BREAKING: Colorado Republicans Passed Around “Resolution to Deny Trump Delegates” Back on March 22
The Gateway Pundit ^ | 4/12/16 | Jim Hoft

Posted on 04/12/2016 7:30:24 PM PDT by Amntn

On Saturday Ted Cruz supporters took all 13 of the delegates up for grabs at the Colorado GOP Convention to complete a clean sweep of the state.

But it was not without controversy. There never was a vote – Party elites decided on who got the delegates.

The anti-Trump politicians were passing around a “Resolution to Forbid Colorado Delegates from Voting for Trump” for weeks before the convention.

Snip... Robert Zubrin from Colorado Republicans for Liberty wrote about the anti-Trump resolution at American Thinker back on March 22, 2016:

In the caucuses March 1, I was elected an alternate delegate to the Colorado State GOP convention, which on April 9 will select and instruct our delegates to the Republican National Convention in Cleveland this summer.

Accordingly, I have drawn up a resolution that is now being circulated that will forbid Colorado delegates to the national convention from voting for Donald Trump for president or vice president on any ballot. Such a resolution is necessary, because Trump has publicly stated that his methods of operation include buying or renting the services of politicians for cash.

As the text of the resolution provides a succinct and forceful summary of the reasons why Donald Trump is unacceptable as a Republican candidate for president, I thought I would share it with the readers of American Thinker. Here it is:

Resolution to Forbid Colorado Delegates from Voting for Donald Trump

Whereas Donald Trump is not a Republican; and

Whereas Donald Trump is a demagogue who is using fear, hate, and lies to assemble a mob in support of an agenda of socialist policy, unlimited government, and strongman rule; and

Whereas Donald Trump would destroy the Western alliance which is the basis of American security; and

Whereas Donald Trump would destroy the system of international trade which is the basis of American prosperity; and

Whereas Donald Trump would destroy the freedom of the press that is the basis of American liberty; and

Whereas Donald Trump would destroy the rule of law which is the basis of American civil society; and

Whereas Donald Trump has mocked those who risked their lives to fight for America when he avoided doing so; and

Whereas Donald Trump has acted as an apologist for America’s enemy Vladimir Putin and other brutal anti-American foreign tyrants; and

Whereas Donald Trump has set himself forth as an open exponent of lust, greed, and other vices antithetical to Judeo-Christian ethics and the moral fiber necessary to sustain a republic; and

Whereas Donald Trump has demonstrated that he has no respect for the truth, and

Whereas Donald Trump has defrauded thousands of ordinary Americans of their life savings; and

Whereas Donald Trump has, in the course of the present campaign, committed acts potential prosecutable as incitement to riot, a federal crime punishable by up to five years in prison; and

Whereas Donald Trump has knowingly acted to degrade the Republican presidential nominating process to a vile level that can only serve to drive people of talent and integrity out of the party and assist in the election of the party’s opponents; and

Whereas the nomination of Donald Trump for president would insure a landslide defeat for the Republican Party nationwide in the fall, and deeply damage the Republican Party and the conservative movement for years, and possibly decades to come; and

Whereas a vote for Donald Trump by any member of the Colorado delegation to the Republican National Convention would dishonor and disgrace the Colorado Republican Party;

Therefore, be it resolved that:

The Colorado Republican Party forbids any of its delegates to the Republican National Convention to vote for Donald Trump for president or vice president on the first ballot or any other ballot, and The Colorado Republican Party asks its delegates to national convention to pledge on their honor to do everything in their power to help secure the presidential nomination for someone other than Donald Trump. Donald Trump has threatened the Republican Party with mob violence. Let’s tell him where to go!

Colorado Republicans for Liberty

The anti-Trump officials handed out this same resolution at the state convention on Saturday.

How about if the rule itself is a form of “cheating” by cutting the voter out of the process?

It has been actually prophesied that Trump is in this to expose lies and corruption.

Go Trump!

Are you saying this “Resolution to Forbid Colorado Delegates from Voting for Trump” shown is not a real resolution but some kind of hoax?

Wow. Do you truly mean what you just said? If so you are an asshole. No other way to put it. So you are ok with political party hacks denying the people to freely and openly decide who they want to represent them? I'd bet if this happened to your guy you would be wetting your pants.

This is nothing but under-handed elitist bullshit. I don't care so much about Trump or Cruz. What has me riled is that this process is a TRAVESTY! So now we know that republicans are no better than the damn democrats.

One person, one vote? Not in either so called political party for the party leaders are clearly our betters and will tell we the peasants who is and who is not acceptable. To hell with that and with anyone who agrees to this garbage. If this rant causes me to be banned then so be it but I am so damn tired of this nonsense already.

The parties choose their candidates. The consent of the people have nothing to do with it. It’s designed to keep the masses from falling for a populist lunatic.

Which makes the whole voting process a sham and exercise in futility. There must be some mitigation or understandable link between the voters, the delegates/electoral college, and the elected candidate that makes the voting process a valid democratic process in the choosing of a candidate.

“If you had really done research, you would have learned that there hasn’t been a primary in Colorado since 2001. Of course you could have attended a precinct caucus and really involved yourself in the delegate election process, but you chose to remain ignorant instead.”

Wow, Hoodat. I will remember this comment.

I had to move here in 2000 because my husband got a job here and I had two small children that I was taking care of at home. He had a great opportunity after a certain major telecom destroyed our retirement savings. I really had no choice, even though I am an educated person, a trained attorney, and gave that up to raise our children at home.

So I missed that information about no primaries in CO since 2001.

If that is what you call ignorant, so be it.

The GOPe Gods determined that they and only they would be the goal keepers of the delegates. Sure you and other peasants could go through the process. But the GOPe has/had the power to say no to anyone who was pro Trump. I cannot imagine not even having a straw poll to reflect the will of the peasants.

You are right. This was a travesty. What did our forefathers say?

No taxation without representation!?

Did we have any representation in Colorado?!

Thank you for the link. I miss Mike Rosen on the AM radio. Wonder if he is still on.

btw, I am originally from Chicago. :)

I apologize. Have you been voting absentee in Colorado for the last 16 years? And does that telecom company have a red circle drawn in crayon as its logo? If so, I feel your pain. Rich McGinn belongs in prison.

No problem, FRiend. :). Yes, I haven’t missed a vote except I always wonder if it ever gets counted because I was in Diana Degette’s Ward and it is plain to see on the ballot who I voted for.

As for the company... It was MCI WorldCom. Mr Mcginn (SP?) and Bernie Ebbers have a lot in common. :)

Ah the good old late 90’s.....:)

If we are to become a democracy, then have an election with all states on the same day, then a runoff. The party system would lose all power and the ability to keep the Undesirables out of their party. States would lose all their rights. More power to the Feds. The sheep will taste delicious unless you happen to be one of the sheep, of course.

I cannot imagine not even having a straw poll to reflect the will of the peasants.

What happened in the last CO caucuses might make it more understandable. Colorado delegates were all bound to Rick Santorum and thus had no say at the national convention. The CO Rep. Committee decided last August that the best way to make their delegates' votes count was to leave them unbound. Not sure if that was right but it will give them power that they didn't have last time.

We are a republic, but we should also have voting by individuals that has validity.

Limbaugh and Levin scream whenever DemoCraps get caught doing something like this. Repubs do it and it’s all good, it’s “within the rules”. Screw those guys. It’s a big reason I’ve largely turned off talk radio. Levin was pretty good 2 years ago, now he’s just a screaming idiot. Rush is so rich that I don’t see him as bribe-able, he must be worried about what cocktail parties he’ll be invited to and what good Washington insider info he’ll get fed. Glen Beck started out alright but has a whacko for most of a decade. I say these guys suck.

Exactly. I used to be a big advocate of term limits written into the law. No more. WE THE PEOPLE have the power to enact term limits and we should be doing it. If you wait for govt. to do it, they never will. The answer is: quit re-electing these idiot losers. Living in Utah, it was a happy day when we primaried Skeletor Bob Bennett. But then we keep re-electing Senator-for-Life Hatch. It makes me crazy.
