Wright-Patterson Medical Center has removed a Bible from a POW/MIA display after the Military Religious Freedom Foundation lodged a complaint, according to a base spokesperson.
Mikey Weinstein, MRFF founder and president, said in a telephone interview today the organization was contacted by 31 people who objected to the Bible as part of the table display and 10 of those who complained were identified as Christians.
They objected very clearly that having the Christian Bible on that table provided supremacy to one faith over all the other faiths and since these are government facilities thats a direct violation of the no establishment clause of the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights of the U.S. Constitution, Weinstein said.
The concept there is theres no need to have a faith book there at all and many, many displays around the country there is no book of faith, Weinstein added.
The Bible was removed from the display last week, according to Wright-Patterson spokeswoman Marie Vanover.
After thoroughly assessing the situation, a determination was made by the installation commander to remove the Bible, she said in an email Monday. Mutual respect is an essential part of the Air Force culture and we must ensure we create an environment in which people can realize their highest potential regardless of ones personal religious or other beliefs.
The installation commander is Col. John M. Devillier, who was unavailable for comment.
After complaints from veterans, the MRFF objected to similar POW/MIA Missing Man with Bibles displayed at VA facilities in Akron and Youngstown, which were removed in recent weeks, Weinstein said.
Messages seeking comment were left Monday with VA officials.
Atheists suck.
“the organization was contacted by 31 people who objected to the Bible as part of the table display and 10 of those who complained were identified as Christians.”
Atheists also lie.
Yeah, and they would also like to remove all the crosses from the cemeteries.
Ironic isn't it.... Maybe they were friends of the Pope...
So angry I can’t talk!
Add a Koran.
That would please these jerks just fine.
Anti-theists suck.
An atheist wouldn’t care either way.
We have to lift sanctions on Iran and Cuba so we can impose them on Mississippi and North Carolina. USA! USA! USA!
The ten who were identified as Christians were misidentified. There is no such thing as a Christian who doesn’t believe Christianity is superior to other religions. If they don’t believe in the supremacy of Christianity, they aren’t Christians.
A Bible on a table? So what. A cross on a hill or at a cemetery? So what. A prayer at a public function? So what.
These folks need to get their panties un-wadded.
They should check first with those laying beneath those crosses.
They won’t like it when they are forced to bow before Jesus Christ (Philippians 2:10)
“Mikey Weinstein, MRFF founder and president, said in a telephone interview today the organization was contacted by 31 people who objected to the Bible as part of the table display and 10 of those who complained were identified as Christians.”
Yeah, bullshit.
Tell that to the Pope’s adoring crowd.
Say it to Rick Warren and his congregation.
Say it to Joel Osteen and his congregants.
In this Laodicean Church age, show me 10 Christians, and we can make out 7 or 8 apostates easily.
The HULK needs to give them all “SUPER - WEDGIES!”
But the Koran on display would be protected under multiculturalism.
“Anti-theists suck.”
That’s much less likely.
“An atheist wouldnt care either way.”
But many of them do. An atheist shouldn’t care that a Bible is displayed, but many will.
Weinstein is an atheist? The article doesn't say that. How do you know?
