Gap actually apologized for an ad that people called racist because it features a white model leaning on a black model — and, apparently, that’s saying that all black girls “can do is bear the weight of White [sic] girls.” Here are just a few of the Tweets expressing the outrage over the ad:

And here is Gap’s apology: “As a brand with a proud 46 year history of championing diversity and inclusivity, we appreciate the conversation that has taken place and are sorry to anyone we’ve offended,”
Gap spokeswoman Debbie Felix said in a statement to Fortune. So . . . why did Gap apologize? Because someone was offended, of course! These days, whenever someone gets offended, it seems as though it’s just automatically expected that the offender will apologize, no matter how ridiculous the offended person or group’s actual complaint may be. And, usually, “offenders” fulfill that expectation — regardless of the reality of the situation.
I understand that Gap’s apology was intended to make people feel better, but the fact that it said sorry is more of a cause for outrage than that ad itself. After all, apologizing for ridiculous complaints only prompts more. The ad features four girls from the traveling circus company Le Petit Cirque.
It is soon nearing the time that people need to tell the perpetually aggrieved of the world to GFY.

You’re right; I see more and more managers simply skirt the whole issue and just use other “preferred minorities” (Hispanics, women) instead of blacks. They still have “diversity”, just within a narrower color spectrum...
I’m offended every time I see a commercial depicting a white guy doing something ridiculously stupid and a brilliant black guy fixing the problem or looking at the white guy with a tolerant “poor stupid white guy” smile.

1. So what good did their “46 year history of championing diversity and inclusivity” get them?
2. Are they sorry for the white girl using the black girl as an arm rest or for the white (boy?) sticking his feet in her face?
3. Saying your sorry doesnt fix the problem. FREE CLOTHES FOR EVERY BLACK PERSON!
4. If your’re so inclusive and diverse, why are there no asians, disabled, hispanics or disabled asian hispanics in the ad?

There was a boy in my elementary school when I was growing up who was forced to used his right hand. I remember him saying in class that that was what was ‘wrong’ with him as it caused all sorts of developmental problems. He seemed kind of slow but I do remember him being very bright. Sad.

Making dumba##es out of white people is ok with these companies BECAUSE NO ONE BITCHES!
Oh, hush, I’m the real victim, I’m six four barefoot, just last night a woman asked me, “How tall are you.” I had to go to my safe space and hyperventilate. I am an old white guy. I hit 90% from the free throw line, and 70% with my set shot from 15-18 feet, if nobody is defending. But I can't play defense. I can't jump.
