Sometimes it is amazing what comes out of the mouthpiece of a campaign.
Ted Cruz's challenged campaign manager is proclaiming that Trump should drop out if he cannot get over 50% in New York.
In that case, Cruz should drop out because he only got 43.8% in Texas. The opposition vote in Texas was 27% for Trump, but then 18, 4, and 4, for Rubio, Kasich, and Carson respectively. IOW, a non-Trump vote of only 26%.
Kasich is running second in New York, and Cruz had 18% at last count, well below the non-Trump vote in Texas of 26%. In fact, Cruz is in danger of scoring zero chance at any delegates in New York since there is a 20% lower threshold.
So, to wrap this up, if Cruz cannot get any delegates, and cannot beat Trump's 27% from Texas, then CRUZ should drop out.
Not Trump.
It takes a Trump-sized ego to post a vanity in breaking news.
If the election were held today, who would be your first choice for President of the United States?Who would be your first choice for Donald Trump's running mate? |
I think it is funny how everyone on FR is getting so bent out of shape over this comment. It is politics. The whole point of the comment was to get attention and it did just that. At this point I am not sure who will gain the nomination but I know I will vote for Cruz or Trump and no one else at this point. So, to me, right now is all about getting noticed. Trump gets noticed all the time for the, sometimes, over the top things he says. Cruz gets noticed for the, sometimes, over the top things he says. So what...
Donald The Shorthanded — again — underperformed polling in Texas, as with most other states.
He should roll it up and go home.
Ted Cruz is relying on numbskulls to keep the faith no matter what.
“Is the number of official candidates in the race not a consideration? Just sayin.”
Nope, Trump has to get the 1237 despite the fact that there were 17 people in this race.
Donald doesn’t need a running mate.. he’s sufficiently awesome all by himself. /s
And what’s with that pic.. did he just see a mirror?
LMAO!!! Coming from a trumpette, that's especially hilarious!
The only thing that really matters about 50% is the threshold trigger for a greater delegate haul...If Trump eclipses 50%, he’ll get close to or all of the 95 NY delegates.
If Trump falls below 50%, Cruz and Kasich could reduce that somewhat by proportional allocation. 95 versus 0 >>> 65 versus 30! Could make a difference in reaching 1,237!
Looks like Cruz is just trying to bait Trump into another Twitter hissy fit!
Also, looks like Donald got his smartphone back from Ivanka overnight! ;-)
AZ Trump 47, Cruz 24
Mine is still probably Governor Jan Brewer
Arizona is an important win with a significant number of electors.
Arizona is ground zero in the illegal debate, so she puts a serious focus on that signature Trump issue
Jan Brewer is a fighter
Jan Brewer is female
Ashley Cruz, like Obama the First Moslem,
is a TEST of intelligence.
Their followers are cultists and far, far
from the sharpest knives in the drawer.
That's an obfuscation and you know it. The conversation is about votes not delegates.
For being such a master of rhetoric and strategy, Cruz sure does say a lot of stupid stuff that boomerangs back on him!
NY has a lower threshold of 20%.
If a candidate doesn’t meet that threshold they are eligible for zero delegates.
Cruz is at 18% in the most recent polling.
That’s what I thought.
He had to fire at least one campaign higher up.
Wow, Newt is 2nd on that poll for VP.
I like that.
I’m all for Trump staying in. He provides an excellent example of NY values liberalism versus traditional American values conservatism that Cruz represents.
“and you know it”
Your mind reading STINKS!
I simply referred to the RCP Delegate table, without addressing popular vote.
Wisdom is something that has always eluded Cruz.
It looks like that same malady has infected his campaign.
