Will Trump Drop Out?
Wall Street Journal ^ | 04/06/2016 | James Taranto

“[Donald] Trump’s second-place finish to Sen. Ted Cruz (Tex.) in Tuesday’s Wisconsin Republican primary may represent no ordinary setback,” write the Washington Post’s Karen Tumulty, Jose A. DelReal and Robert Costa. “It appears to be a pivot point—although it has yet to be seen whether the trajectory from here points downward or upward.”

~snip~

The last time he faced the prospect of venturing into hostile territory—when his rally in Chicago was overrun by left-wing disruptors—he ended up bugging out. If he fails to secure a majority of delegates, perhaps rather than endure defeat in Cleveland he will find a way to withdraw ungraciously before the convention.

Hmmm, not that is an interesting viewpoint that I had not heard before. Could be possible.

Have you seen my post 68 of this thread? Tell me that line of thought wasn’t prevalent about Trump last year. It was. And as things are shaping up - I can see those concerns back then are valid today. Face it. I don’t trust Trump. And neither do most conservatives and even many Republicans.

Post 68? What more of the leftist and GOPe's narrative about Trump? Sorry, I don't buy in to anything the left, enemedia, and the GOPe bring.

You have every right to not trust Trump if you so choose but don't tell me the left's narrative about him because I understand most all of it is not true.

FWIW, I see you say most conservatives and Republicans don't trust Trump but you have not one fact to back that up. If you look at how many have already voted for him in the primaries, what you said is not true. Also look at the Daily Caucus here at FR and Cruz's numbers have tanked while Trump's numbers remain fairly steady. So you see, many conservatives, like myself, trust Trump. You are free to not trust him but don't pretend like most don't because the numbers aren't there to support what you say.

Once again, think hard again about who truly is on the corrupt side of things.

That’s adorable.

Cruz fanboy logic:

Stupid article with illogical premise can only be met with agreement or else according to Cruz fans, you = Thin skinned.

So says “eard*ck”. <- See? I can do that too.

And I am not sure what train you plan on getting on, Amtrak will not get you where you want to go.

I guess I was too subtle.

Im not sure why he would want to spend so much money fighting for a virtually worthless nomination. If he win’s he still loses hes that far behind Clinton and her lead will get larger.

The only way Trump, and it looks like Cruz wins this election is if someone knocks off Clinton.

By now you should know that crowd size does not translate to votes. Trump will get his 30% to 35%. More in his state probably, and a few close, but time will tell.

I know some that have gone to his rally’s and said they were electrifying, but they would never vote for him.

It’s like not wanting to miss the show, and they would if he wins the nomination.

However, without other candidates in the race to take votes from Cruz, it is going to be real difficult for Trump to win once NY is finished.

Big crowds, but still do not translate to more than 35% of the vote.

Remember, had Rubio voters not voted early, Cruz would have defeated Trump in Arizona, and if Rubio dropped out, Cruz would also have won many other states.

Good luck, and have fun watching the crowds enjoying the sideshow.

Do you have a pulse on PA, CT, and NJ? Industry matters. And folks in these regions appreciate Trump’s rhetoric.

I’m in the Philly burbs. Very Democrat/RINO area. I’ve heard some blue collar types praising Trump out and about when the primaries were getting started. The young professionals at work mostly despise Trump and think he’s a joke.

The real hardcore Republicans I know seem to be split between Trump and Cruz, but the movement seems to be going for Cruz. Someone just left homemade computer print-outs of a homemade ad for Ted Cruz at every door in my apartment building. Nicely laid out ad but cheaply printed. Never received anything like that before.

Back home in blue collar northeastern PA where hispanic immigration is high, the white people are in total Trump-mania. The anti-immigration mayor in Hazleton is one of the few professional politicians to come out and endorse Trump. Trump will probably do huge in northeastern PA.

The caveat is it doesn’t matter much. The state has less bound delegates than Rhode Island. They’re voted on by name with no declaration of candidate support. From what I hear, establishment politicians tend to win as delegates due to local name recognition.

Correction, Lou Barletta who endorsed Trump is the former mayor but got upgraded to Congressman.

“Trump cannot beat Hillary. Regardless of anyone’s admiration of him, she will beat him and turn us into Venezuela North. Go Ted.”

Except that Trump CAN beat Hillary....but Cruz, after all is said and done, can’t......because.......

Ted is the Canadian born son of a Cuban citizen father.

On the surface he has mixed American/Cuban/Canadian loyalties. The Founders inserted the Natural Born Citizen eligibility requirement into Article II to prevent people with apparently mixed loyalties from being President.

Because the weak kneed Republicans did not stop Obama on this very issue doesn’t mean Hillary and the Democrats won’t. You can be 100% sure they will. They see no hypocrisy in using the law which the Republicans should of, but didn’t invoke. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) has already prepared the Congressional objection. Only 1 Democrat Senator is need to join in to overturn a Cruz election, should that doubtful event ever occur.

Do you think that 1 Democrat Senator can be found?

I think they’ll be drawing straws for the privilege.

What ever else the Democrats are they aren’t afraid to press their agenda.

Yawn.
Coordinate media attacks because they think Cruz has momentum, though no path.
Then NY happened, and it’s March all over again.
