I beg to differ. Went to a Gene Watson concert a couple of weeks ago. He can still bring it.

One of a very few...
Not at all like the ‘50’s and ‘60’s....
That’s when there WAS country music....

Sad news. He was one of the greats. I dont listen to country music much anymore, but when I did, he was one of my favorites. His string of hits from the late 60s to mid 70s were great recordings. Same here! Country music today "ain't" country!

Somewhere in the middle of Montanna
And gimme all I’ve got comin’ to me
And keep your retirement
And your so called social security
Big City, turn me loose and set me free

Glad I’m not the only one that thinks it. Over modulate the bass, take out the country “twang” and throw in a few nasty words and you couldn’t tell the difference between that and (c)rap music.

I think it is called “Hick Hop” now.
To: JBW1949
There is no real country music any longer...Apparently a twangy accent, a 'cowboy' hat and a steel guitar is all you need these days. It's all pop.
To: BuckeyeTexan
My daughter just called me and told me.
One of my favorites.

I got a little frustrated with his leftist turn several yrs ago...
but he was a true voice in country music...
these performers today....and that is exactly what they are....mere performers...haven't got a clue...haven't an ounce of soul in them.....and I can't stomach most of them...
