The GOP’s (other) convention nightmare [Gay Marriage]
Politico ^ | April 4, 2016 | Alex Isenstadt

Republicans, already girding for their most tumultuous convention in decades, now have another fight brewing: a divisive battle over gay marriage on the party’s official national platform.

It’s an issue that drives intense passion, and one that splits the mainstream and evangelical wings of the GOP. With the convention less than four months away, both sides are mobilizing in anticipation of a bitter clash over whether the party should embrace a more moderate approach to gay nuptials, in keeping with a public that is more open to it, or maintain the hard line the party’s base demands.

The Northeast Corridor and West Coast money men of the GOP want to shove the base's face in the turd of gay marriage.

It would not surprise me if the GOP-e came out for gay marriages.

After all - they are running at 90 mph in an effort to piss off their very last voter.

This would do it.

This fund is operating in the shadows as their FEC filings indicate only spending in the thousands of dollars.

That would certainly help them with that goal.

Singer is a donor to Family Values Cruz. Something stinks here and it isn’t the cow pies.

There’s a FReeper with a good tagline that is something to the effect of: “Fiscal responsibility and lower taxes in Sodom and Gomorrah is not my idea of conservatism”. The RINO who is in my carpool is that way. He’ll say “gay marriage is not the hill to die on”. Of course neither is transgender bathrooms, abortion on demand, etc. The RINOs care nothing for social issues.

This is a generational battle. Beware of false prophet career politicians saying “elect me I can change this”.

It took almost 20 years from the first gay kiss on TV to homo marriage victory in SCOTUS. It’s going to take us that long to roll it back, IMO.

excerpt : “The Republican Party’s most recent official platform, adopted during the 2012 convention, took an uncompromising stance. At that time, the platform committee expressed its support for a constitutional amendment defining marriage as a union of one man and one woman, and ripped what it called “the court-ordered redefinition of marriage” as “an assault on the foundations of our society.”

I pray they (RNC) were serious about that...

The GOP’s (other) convention nightmare [Gay Marriage]

This is what happens when you tolerate left wing Liberal kooks running all the entertainment and news in the nation. They poison the public with their propaganda.

Good. Rob him, and then tell him not to worry, cause "Theft" is a "social issue."

In a morality free society, the right to keep what you own also disappears.

Maybe homosexual marriage in and of itself is not the hill to die on. But homosexual marriage has paved the way for the rest of the LGBT agenda, including trans people in bathrooms of the opposite sex.

I would also question about whether you want to die on a hill for a certain cause. Homosexual marriage is a fact in our secular world, but, it’s just a matter of time until we see churches getting sued over marriage.

The Republican Party has a couple of suicide options in front of it at the convention.

The question in my mind is which one will be chosen.

They couldn’t have been too serious about it. The Republican nominee in 2012 was endorsed by the pro-homosexual Log Cabin Republicans when he was governor of Massachusetts. And the nation’s first same-sex “marriages” were recognized by Romney’s executive order in Massachusetts in 2004.

As I have repeatedly said to others. "This is not about cake."

...but it’s ok if it’s Kasick or Cruz that people that find things out in their pasts and black mail them...but heaven forbid if Trump misspeaks about anything, why it’s off to the races..

You see, when things about politicians are hidden, and people find out about them, not the public of course, they can be ‘blackmailed’ and forced to pass bills and sway the others in a certain way...but of course Kasich and Cruz walk on water so ‘no blackmail’ will ever be done....right.....

If the Amish and Mennonites and Quakers can claim ‘conscientious objector’ status to avoid serving in a combat role in war, why couldn’t such a status be available for Christian wedding vendors, churches, and pastors?
Would that not be equal protection under the law? Sure, some vicious pushy gay activists wouldn’t like it, but they can get used to the idea of respecting those who disagree with them.

It appears the GOP will soon condone the June 2015 Obergefell decision.

Scotus didn't just expropriate lawmaking from congress. Through its redefinition of marriage it assumed divine powers more appropriate for Iranian ayatollahs than jurists in a free republic.

Come November, we will be asked to assent to this outrage. No thanks.

The minute they accommodate homo marriage is the minute I cease to be a Republican. Period. They will officially be the other democrat party.
