Trump refuses to rule out third-party run if he doesn’t land GOP nomination
NY Daily News ^ | April 4, 2016 | Adam Edelman

Donald Trump continued his war with party bosses Sunday, once again saying that he wouldn’t rule out a third-party run if he failed to secure the GOP nomination and demanding that rival John Kasich drop out of the race.

“We’re going to have to see how I was treated. I’m going to have to see how I was treated. Very simple,” Trump said on “Fox News Sunday” when asked if he would categorically rule out running as a third-party independent candidate if he failed to win his party’s nomination. “It’s not a question of win or lose. It’s a question of treatment. I want to be treated fair.”

The comments came just days after Trump, Kasich and Ted Cruz backed out of pledges to support the GOP’s eventual nominee. Following the walk-backs, Trump met privately with Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus in an apparent effort to smooth things over, but on Sunday, the hot-and-cold relationship appeared on the verge of fracturing once again.

“Those kinds of comments, I think, have consequences,” Priebus said on ABC’s “This Week” of Trump’s latest remarks. “When you make those kinds of comments, and you want people to fall in line for you, it makes it more difficult.”

In yet another interview, Priebus admitted he wasn’t sure whether he felt the former businessman was the party’s best candidate.

“I don’t know,” Priebus said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “Listen, I don’t worry about who is the strongest candidate.”

Further suggesting Trump was undeterred by the criticism were demands he made during a rally in Wisconsin — whose pivotal primary on Tuesday will put for up grabs another 96 delegates — that Kasich drop out of the GOP race.

If Ted had actually won the primary with millions of voters like trump did. I’d respect his win and vote for him in the general. But he’s going to politicians who we despise and begging them to vote for him. Without Texas, Cruz would have under a million votes.

I do think the mogul will get investigators to expose all the fraud to get back at the GOPe if backstabbed.
But the tearing and burning down of the GOP will be done by the voters that have been shanked by the GOPe for many years now.

You apparently don’t know very many women.

Mrs. JimRed does keep me on a tight leash...but most of the women I know best would prefer anyone to Hillary.

the front runner in anything never steps down for the first place lower and yet on here sickoflibs keep repeating that crap.

It makes as much sense as asking Cruz to step down.

And Trump threatens all those perks, so Trump is the enemy.

His greatest sin was failing to pay party dues, get in line and wait his turn.

Both billionaires....Trump seems more interested.

I think Perot had dropped out by this point, iirc.

Tell me where you have seen anywhere in sport or politics where anyone is asked to give up before the game is over. \

sorry here is your question.

My answer is that no one has ever been asked to give up being the front runner.

You demand answers from folks, then won’t answer a direct question.

You see why folks won’t deal with you?

Anyone except Trump is identical to Hillary in the long run. Goodbye USA, goodbye conservatism in the long run.

Trump is closest to sHrillary on every single except building the wall (And he is lying about that.)
Cruz want to eliminate Obozocare, Trump wants "universal coverage" just like sHrillary. Trump supports the private use of Eminent Domain, Cruz just joined an Amicus brief in Texas. Trump supports abortion, Just like sHrillary, Cruz opposes it.

Start paying attention.

your right it wasn’t 3 times.

OK is that answer good enough for you?

Now is the game up, no, is it over if he wanted to get enough delegates to the convention yes.
Does he and the establishment want a contested convention
yes
Is voting for cruz helping the establishment get their contested convention, yes.

Thus voting for cruz is voting for what the establishment wants.

Now uou will say , well the game is not over bla bla, OK so why did everyone else not give up, oh I know , no need for you t answer.
It is because they knew they had no chance of getting to the convention with enough delegates.
Bit like Kasich and cruz.

"the 2012 rules were written by the 2012 delegates"

This whole thing has been confused by people using imprecise language. You expect that from journalists. But as he says, the 2012 rules were written by 2012 delegates. Likewise, the 2016 rules will be written by 2016 delegates. It may be that they look at the rules from the last convention as a template, but the fact is those rules are not in effect. There are no 2016 rules until they are adopted by the 2016 delegates. None of them carry forward automatically. There is no reason to think that any 2012 rule must apply in 2016 unless it's some normal and uncontroversial one. But that 2012 rule wasn't normal and was very controversial. It would only be in effect in 2016 if the convention once again specifically adopted it.

I am voting for Trump no matter what happens. Down ticket may or may not get my vote. Senator and Rep. Including my PA State House/Senate representatives. My GOP State Rep is useless. She inherited her position from her dead husband.I have met with her several times and she’s a hack. Jury is still out on the new GOP State Senator.
